missile
A missile is a rocket-propelled ranged weapon.
Launch mechanisms
- rocket_launcher - A portable shoulder-fired handheld launcher.
- missile_pod - A multi-tubed launch system. Usually fitted on vehicles such as aircraft.
- missile rack - A shelf-like structure with mechanical clamps that holds the missile in place until it's released.
- missile silo - A subterranean facility that houses and launches large missiles.
Warhead types
Missiles can be fitted with different warheads that changes its effect on the target.
- Explosives - This is the most common type of warhead. It can be impact or proximity triggered.
- Incendiary - Missiles that spread fire in a wide area such as napalm.
- Chemical - Missiles that make use of dangerous properties of toxic substances.
- Biological - Missiles loaded with disease-spreading microorganisms and viruses such as anthrax.
- Nuclear - Missiles that make use of nuclear fission to cause a big explosion and spread radiation on a large area.
- Micro-missiles - The missile opens up and launches a salvo of smaller missiles.
- Missile drone - Missiles fitted with optics, an on-board computer and a wireless communications system. Usually for reconnaissance and kamikaze attacks.
