The transgender tag is currently stuck in limbo between sex_change sequences, crossdressing, and intersex characters. The wiki page on it is vague at best, so I'm left wondering what exactly it's supposed to tag.

Honestly, the word "transgender" has so many perceived meanings in the real world that I might even suggest it for invalid_tag status to reduce the confusion being caused by novice taggers.

It's sort of a catch-all term that gets applied to dickgirls/cuntboys/herms, I believe.

crossdressing doesn't have any impact on sex in a TWYS environment; a dress on a physically male individual doesn't make them any less a male when TWYS is in effect. Neither does a suit on a female. The tag can be used in conjunction with any of these related tags, as it's not exclusive, but I don't think it's related enough to warrant lumping it in with sex_change, transgender, or any of the others.

intersex is being used in sort of the same was as transgender is right now; being applied to those characters who are not expressly male or female, but a mix of the two.

Personally, I think we should go with either transgender or intersex; having the two is sort of superfluous, in my opinion.

I vote we alias transsexual to it, if it hasn't already been done, and use it as an umbrella for any sex changes either by surgery, dialogue or transformation. This. however, leaves me to ask, do we extend it to gender swapped characters? Do we use gender_swapped alone? Have it implicate transgender?

If you're suggesting that we expand intersex into an umbrella term for those things, then I'm against it. The tag serves a very good purpose right now as a blanket for all the nonstandard genders here (dickgirl, herm, maleherm, and cuntboy).

If we do make an even larger umbrella tag like the one you're proposing, it should probably be transgender, but I'd like to know if there is really enough demand in the first place to warrant doing so.

Edit: Oops, now that I read it again, I think you were suggesting that transsexual be aliased to transgender and transgender be expanded to an umbrella term. In that case I think Rule 63 crossgender images should be left out because they usually just involve a change made by the artist(s) without any logical explanation inside the world of the image itself.

Why do we need this tag at all?
A transgender tag would potentially apply to all combinations of genitals(except maybe herm), and unless the fact that they're transgender is specifically mentioned in the picture, there's no way to differentiate between a male, dickgirl, or female who is or isn't transgender.

No, because how do we know it's "male -penis + boobs" when our tagging standard says boobs but no penis means female.

Transgender is an un-needed tag with our current tagging standards.

Like Hammie says, if the only distinction here is whether or not they began life with the parts they have now, it's irrelevant to this site, because we go by what we see that they are, not what they were at a previous time.

If this is implemented, it will in no way affect our current gender tags. It will only serve to indicate that a depicted character's gender has changed by some means at some point inside the scope of the image.

This simply has a similar rule towards crossgender. In a TWYS state, we do not know who the character is, we absolutely do not know who the hell that character is. We are ONLY going by sight. But/and I am slightly confused, by what Princess Celestia said from my post or thread (whatever): forum #49856 I was asking a question about crossgender, "Cross-Gender is usually for specific cases of generally well known characters being altered from their normal gender."

If ever, only for generally well known characters, then some characters that are not well known and actually got their sex changed to a different one won't probably have their image tagged with crossgender, unfortunately.

So again, in a TWYS state, we absolutely do not know the character is and only going by sight like I said, so let's say, Superman got his sex changed to female, with boobs, vag, and all. And you don't know that. So simply by just looking at him while not knowing him, you will tagged him as female with muscular arms and such. This defeats the purpose of having the tag, transgender and probably crossgender. But I do not know if we are going to plan to alias transgender to crossgender.

So, transgender is differing from one's original sex.
And, crossgender is for well known characters that turn their sex to the opposite. (Their original sex)

This may make the TWYS rule look weak with so many exceptions.

I hope I understand this one, or probably making myself look drunk again, lol. XD

Also, can't give a thought about crossdressing right now. :/
