Topic: Favorite Fictional Alien Species.

Posted under Off Topic

Plain and simple here. It doesn't have to be 1, it can be multiple-or have a top # list. Reason behind your choice is optional.

I'll go first

One of my favorite aliens are the Unggoy (better known as Grunts) from HALO. Personally I think they're the most humorous in terms of voices, dialogue, and how they act. I feel bad for these guys because of their backstory in the lore, however I facepalmed at the time I saw their Halo 4 appearance...They look like midget Krogans from Mass Effect...Because of their face

Jjaro über alles.... whether they could be classified as aliens or god-entities is a bit ambivalent, though at a certain point the two probably become indistinguishable to lesser beings.

I really expected Halo to reference the Pfhor more than just the Hunters, but that's a continuity that probably shouldn't be blurred too much

Holy shit, I'm not the only one here who's heard of Marathon.
I was going to say Jjaro as well, I didn't expect to be beaten to that one. They're pretty obscure.

Also the W'rkncacnter is pretty neat. Basically the Flood of Marathon. I love how Bungie made the standard sci-fi story elements take a turn into something like Lovecraftian horror.

I like lots of Aliens.

Namekians (Grumpy and/or adorable green men are my jam)
Turians (Flanging voices. 10/10)
Draenei (They're blue. And big. yes good)
Fourth Form Frieza (The sleek elegance of that form is very pleasing to the eye.)
Sontarans (Potatoes.)
Krogan (Grunt in the Citadel DLC is fantastic. Also, Eve.)
Klingons
Vulcans

Honourable mention:
Silurians (Not technically aliens. Lizard people are fine too)

well, those look interesting. what game is that from?

Marathon again.
Those guys are S'pht Compilers, slaves used for hacking computer networks and keeping records. They're like a cross between the Elites and Engineers from Halo if you're familiar with that.

Marathon Infinity was the first game I ever played on the macintosh way back in '96....I remember having some recurrent nightmares from Ne Cede Malis for awhile haha. The whole metaphysical twist it started taking after the trih xeem was really like nothing I'd seen before and probably had a lot to do with contributing to a dualistic mindset for many things later in life (for reasons you might infer)

I'm intrigued to ask....did you ever play Rubicon or any of the other total conversion maps? Along with RED (which was made by the Mac Hall / Three Panel Soul webcomic guy) it's far and away one of the few that could be on par with anything from Bungie themselves; you actually get to see the Hindmost Creche that was mentioned like once or twice in the original.

Also I just found out today the Flood were actually based on an unused zombie/infected Pfhor from Durandal....they really like to keep ideas in circulation don't they [still waiting for a throwback to Pathways into Darkness lul]

I started both Rubicon and Red but I never finished them.

There are plenty of Pathways references in Halo :v
Well, not nearly as many as Myth or Marathon, but the entire story of Halo 3: ODST is based on PiD's. Think about it: you're a silent member of a special operations team sent in to fight an alien threat. You get separated from your team while dropping down, and your first order of business is to find them. This is the introduction of both PiD and ODST. Also both games have you learning about the situation from people who aren't around anymore, only ODST does it with audio logs instead of talking to Nazi ghosts...

Destiny is also chock full of references... in fact, their announcement trailer was called "Pathways Out of Darkness."

Speaking of which, Destiny's aliens would be pretty cool if we could actually learn about them in-game instead of having to go to Bungie's website.
