alias?

We don't keep many <species>_<characteristic> tags around, but bat wings are both fairly distinct and notorious for being on non-bats (even if it's undertagged).

I could go either way with this.

The only concrete difference seems to be that membranous_wings also includes this type:

Is that enough to keep the separate tags?

That is what I mean. All bat_wings are membranous_wings but not all membranous_wings are bat_wings. So the implication seems reasonable.

On a side note:
The alias between mambranous_wings and webbed_wings might be missplaced. An alias between webbed_wings and bat_wings seems more fitting.

Though, if you are going for simplicity over diversity then the alias between membranous_wings and bat_wings would be the way to go.

EDIT:
mambranous_wings also include insect like wings like these: post #609498
