Topic: Duck Hunt Dog Tag

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I have an extremely minor question. Why is the Duck Hunt Dog referred to a hunt_(duck_hunt)? The dog's name isn't Hunt. It doesn't have a confirmed name by Nintendo, so it's simply called Dog. Since the tag dog is obviously too vague, why not make the tag dog_(duck_hunt)?

duck_hunt_dog always was the correct tag, somebody obviously moved all the posts from it without any prior discussion.

EDIT: Thank you, RollerCoasterViper59, for taking it upon yourself to rename a tag with no consensus to do so.

I suggest aliasing hunt_(duckhunt) -> duck_hunt_dog to prevent future usage of the tag.

EDIT 2: also duck_(duckhunt) -> duck_hunt_duck. Might also be worth looking over the user's tag edits, I see a few things that may be similar changes.

Maybe "Duck" and "Hunt" are nicknames for the duo in the Smash community because they lack official individual names. Though for the intent and purpose of tagging, "duck_hunt_dog/duck" is more appropriate because it is a descriptive name instead of an unofficial nickname.

It appears that RollerCoasterViper59 started it. This is evident in that the histories of a majority of images featuring Duck Hunt Dog/Duck show him altering the names.

A few examples:

Other users also uploaded/tagged as "hunt_(duckhunt)". Not necessarily to their fault, though. They could be tagging with what is potentially a fan-given nickname, or are unknowing in their error and were just tagging according to the preexisting images that RollerCoasterViper59 "vandalized".

Since this erroneous tag seems to have caught on, we should probably get a couple of aliases rolling.

Alias: hunt_(duckhunt) -> duck_hunt_dog (as Tuvalu proposed)
Alias: duck_(duckhunt) -> duck_hunt_duck (quack)

Thanks, and as of now, I have officially changed every tag from hunt_(duckhunt) to duck_hunt_dog and duck_(duckhunt) to duck_hunt_duck
