This is a general question as I'm pretty new to the site. If you do an edited variant of someone else's image would you tag yourself in the artist section along with the original artist? Or would you only tag the original artist? Thanks.

I believe information like that is best left in the description.

You only tag the original artist. Also, add the edit tag as well and, as GameManiac said, add the details into the Description box.

Sometimes it's allowed if there are significant enough changes that show artistic merit on it's own (such as coloring a black and white sketch), but as a general rule, no don't tag yourself as the artist.
