Alright, lets check on pokemon 3d stuff.... ew :( sad how no advanced technology is used... sigh.. anyywayyy..
riiight (creepy as regular).. wait... models by: Disembowell
*checking DA* seems right...
Artist tags... apimpnamedcheerilee ?
...yea, whatever.. moving on...

ITS THE SAME FUCKING MODELS :<

artist tags: gorilka; red5101; soulsfm; thesp; johnithanial (did some other stuff himself too); pardok (may actually be useful for a tag... did he discover inverse kinematics rigs? *gasp* ... did he do the models? seems to be negative); pyrofrost135; kraotik; snowthewinterkitsune; jojje; xjamesx; thesp; rastafariansfm; quick_e;
Missed anyone? ...well. all of these just seem to pick disembowell's models, spend 30 seconds of their time to pose it, and profit, lawk at meh ahm an artest :D
<_< I hate when people release models

Suggestion: Give character tags to models... Something simple like "blaziken_model_disembowell", link it to disembowell_(artist), and kill all other artist tags on the post.
1.Everyone can download a model and pose it, and does not need artist tag.
2. Unless you are making a movie, most movements will be short and simple, which is basically posing the model twice, and having computer fill in the in betweens (which works right away, always.. fucking 2d animations..)
3. human models are ready to download and use just about everywhere, lets not even think about them
4. someone, find who makes models in other franchises, because this is a fucking mess.

Because obviously creating the model, texture and rig is the only thing that qualifies you as an artist when it comes to creating 3d art. Obviously.

Well basically somebody that copies and pastes other's stuff on Photoshop and uploads it here isn't something I would call "artist".

Ah yes. Models are one of the things that you "can't unsee once you see it".
Such as millennium_dragon. It's one of the most overused models: once you learn to recognize it, you start seeing it on tons of cheap album and book covers, etc.

And even though that model has a lot of morphs, pretty much everyone uses the basic version.

I've dabbled in 3D art, and was surprised by how easy those are to make. And now most of the 3D art looks like no-effort to me. :/

Exactly why I have 3d art blacklisted. There are so few exceptions to the "it's all low-effort and terrible" that it isn't even worth wading through the junk to me for the rare few gems.

The real reason I'm posting though is because the title made me think of Attack on Titan, and how terrible and hilarious it would be if the Titans were all badly desgined 3d models. It is an amusing image to my mind. Derpy Colossal Titan staring lifelessly over the wall...

and the guys who just spent 30 sec to pose the model

To be fair, although I don't know how it is in SFM, but in Gmod, usually when I try to pose a ragdoll, I spend like, a minute or two trying to get the model perfectly upright, then freeze it. Then, whenever I try to unfreeze a single limb, the entire ragdoll unfreezes.

Interesting discussion. I've never thought that creating a picture (like a Rembrandt's painting) is just about posing models. 3D art is like photography, but you can create scenes that would be impossible or very difficult or dangerous to create in real world. The artist has complete control over the characters and props as well as the properties of materials. This is, however, only a starting point. Lighting creates the atmosphere. Camera location, focal length, focal point, framing the picture, depth of field, possible motion blur, etc. are other important components in making the picture tell the story.

I know you can create low quality 3D pictures (as I do), but you can also draw and paint low quality pictures (I'm even worse in that). However, a skilled 3D artists can make spectacular pictures and animations, which we can see for example in many movies (like Avatar). (I can assure you that animation, 2D or 3D, it is not just about creating two pictures and letting the computer create the animation.) I wouldn't call 3D art shit in general. You can create both shit and art with many techniques.

I AM MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!

i should really check out the movie this is from some time. i saw that scene on youtube, priceless. lol that whole scene was just pure awesome.

Despite the rambling, run on sentences, I have to agree with Aurel here. 3D art / animation are most definitely lacking in quality.

According to many on here, those who use other, freely-available models for the public to use, and even when credit is given....those who pose and animate these models are to be shunned and publicly humiliated. This place is a farce.

Ok, guys. You could easily blacklist 3D, but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

You have convinced me. No more my art here.

You have got to be kidding me... Thats the solution?...
Lets say... I enjoy some.. ehm.. no real good examples
Lets say we live in a different timeline (too much sci-fi movies thar :D)
And in that universe, i reaaaaaly love vore... but everyone else is like "meh" and it is also a huge target for trolling.
As a consequence, there are thousands of vore posts, but all seem like drawn by a 3 year old.
And then i make a forum post.
"haaay guyyss, i really love vore posts, but they suck, cheers"
and answer is "you should blacklist it"
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sorry, but blacklist truly is not a solution to all worlds problems.

And... please dont run off, coz that would be a very personally my fault.. which would kinda make some people not really happy :P

Oh really? Well, your attitude certainly conveys otherwise, because clearly, you and the cadres of 3D-hate-mongering users shun us 3D artists for using other freely available 3D models. Am I wrong? What do you expect us to do, post more and more art and let assholes use ad hominem and strawman arguments because the 3D art isn't up to this site's "standards"? The negativity here doesn't give us much of a choice, now does it? Blacklisting doesn't help, but it weeds out some of the haters, but even you're against that. You people are what's wrong with this site, not us.

I mean, I may be jumping the gun, but there was a conversation I had with the fine folks on the IRC channel and they treat 3D art like garbage. As much as I don't want to believe it, but anything that isn't "our own 3D" or some BS like that is shunned upon and the artists ostracized.

Don't like 3D art, or art made from other models, don't fucking look at it. Was that so hard? Now, begone and stop bitching about my art. Good day.

"my art? my point does not seem to be getting thru"
Hey, i wonder if i could find some adult rated skyrim mod, then screenshot it, and then slap everyone who refuses to admit that "its mah art"

Oh shut your fucking gob already and grow a pair you whiny little jerk. Just shut up, no one cares about your bullshit opinions or you trolling attitude. Get a life.

oh.. 3d hater? well H0rs3 is love! H0rs3 is life! (except uhm.. his animation seems to be kinda off... everytime i look at it, it makes me feel like all his characters are only capable of only one action at a time... butttt.. its okay, not as its easy to do it right.. with all those movement curves quickly filling the screen till you cant find the one you need)

And what do i expect you to do? uhm? coming to an agreement that you are using asets made by someone else, and your effort is significantly smaller than the one that was made to build the assets.
Maybe going to make an actual animation after that?

Im not saying that modelers are the only ones that matter here.

I should note that this site is a fucking joke, and that any art that isn't original (i.e. user-created assets), any and all who pose/animate said art are frowned upon, chastised, ostracized, ridiculed, etc to the full extent of the law, and are verbally crucified publicly for having the audacity to do so. I see nothing wrong with others posing and using freely available assets as long as credit is given, and even then, I doubt the trolling will stop. Oh no, it will continue, and those who dare use them will be verbally slaughtered by people like you.

I will continue using other assets until I take the time to decide that I make my own MLP models, and so forth, so in the mean time, stop telling me what I should and should do, and get a life. You hate anyone who uses other 3D assets in their art, and there is a lot of it on here, a lot of the 3D is the same deal as the art I post, fact, and you also hate any and all people who pose freely-available assets. Fact. If I'm wrong about that too, I will admit it, but for now, you flat out hate anything that isn't originally made.

If you don't like the 3D art that contains these assets, use the fucking blacklist for crying out loud.

He will pose models until he learns how to model.

this explains everything..
You are a genius which learned how to pilot a plane by playing a piano!
how could i have not seen this obvious logic?!

I do disapprove using assets.. I know.. i even tried to make a video game with a friend... (havent quite went well to the end), and yea, sometimes using assets is just.. needed.
But for the love of arceus, if you are using assets, at least use them with honor!

How the actual fuck do I "use them with honor"? And for the love of all that is holy, shut your fucking gob already, you voiced your opinion, big whoop. Let me do my thing and you do yours. I get it, you're a whiny little quim who doesn't like anyone who uses 3D assets, even if they ported them from a game into SFM, I know a few people on FA who have done this and are very popular, if you don't like what I or others post, even with cited sources, black list it and stop being a whiny prick.

Don't like what I post? Fine, that's your right, but bitching left and right, telling me what do to? Pfft, screw that.

ohh... and i think i already posted an example for the blacklisting..

ah, here it is

Blah, blah, blah, you have an opinion, that's cute, but really, I don't give two shits what you think anymore. Too bad I can't add you to an ignore list. I don't need to deal with subhuman mongoloids like you. Good day and fuck off.

using a model honorably would firstly involve not strapping your name on it, if all you are doing is screenshoting the model
secondly, model would need to be used for MORE than screenshotting

it is
SOURCE h1.FILM MAKER

heck.. how do i use that big word thing people do?... aww well

Look at the fucking tags, you mongoloid, it says "source_filmmaker" under the copyright tags, genius. Even if I do start citing the source for the model, you will still attack what I post.

The conversation has become rather antagonistic, but the point stands.

The state of 3D furry art is as though self-proclaimed "sculptors", who are really just posing action figures, demand the same level of respect as someone carving a figure from a block of marble.

I have no problem with stuff being made with others' assets, as long as credit and permission is properly given. But it absolutely does not take the same work or skill, and the only reason that that point is even in contention is the egos of those who make it.

So, hypothetically speaking, should I not be an idiot and actually remember to citing the sources, which I foolishly forgot to do, but can be corrected, would things be different?
