I've just put up a post in the tagging projects thread, but I think a full-on thread is needed to discuss how bad the problem is.

As a preliminary count, I'm estimating that over 2000[/b] pictures tagged with leaking should in fact have dripping (leaking -penetration -pull_out -after_sex -leaking_pussy -leaking_anus recovers over 2100 pictures). Given that there are about 4400 pictures tagged with leaking, that is a very significant tagging problem.The problem with dripping is finding a good search string. Still going from the 1500 results from dripping -penis cum and the number of false positive, my estimate hinges around 500 for that search alone. Note that there are in fact over 7000 pics tagged dripping, making the search harder.I have a strong suspicion that some "subtagging" (dripping_precum, dripping_cum [this is currently Cum drip], dripping_drool, dripping_nipples, leaking_anus, leaking_pussy^[Note]) would probably be helpful, but still, renaming/splitting one of the tag so it is entirely unambiguous would probably be a better solution.[Note] The later two of which I've started applying to eliminate false positives, hence why they are in my search string.

Looks like about 90% of those have been tagged by the same user, one who's already got other warnings for mistagging various things.

Leaking -pull_out -after_sex -leaking_pussy -leaking_anus solo in particular needs a lot of cleaning, looks like most pics shouldn't have the tag.

Are you sure? Looking at the first row right now, and I see four different users (one is even MY mistagging!)

Positive. I've checked about fifty tag histories, and so far I haven't seen anyone else mistagging it.

I'm going to go on note to say that one part of the dripping wiki is worded in a sort of misleading way, and should probably be reworded.

Specifically:

This could include signs of extreme arousal, such as juice from the pussy, or precum escaping from the penis, or it could be a sign of just completed sexual activity, such as semen dripping from one of a character's orifices (cum drip).

Going off of what you are saying, dripping is only to be tagged when bodily fluids are coming out of the orifices that are producing said fluids. But since the wiki mentions "after sexual activity" it can have an implication that two or more parties are at play and thus could be confused as leaking in certain circumstances.

Going through dripping -penis cum, a majority of posts should be instead be tagged with leaking, and I have a feeling that the wording of the tag itself (cum_drip and not cum_leak) has a lot to do with why it's often mistagged as dripping.

I agree with you that breaking up the implications of dripping/leaking back into their individual tags would probably do the best job of easing the confusion.

On a different note entirely, I always pictured leaking as being like a trickle down and following the surface of some object, never really coming off of the surface, one sorta continuous liquid, like a stream or a melting ice cream cone. While dripping comes off of a surface entirely or almost does so, like a melting icicle or an eye dropper.

That connotation is part of why I suggested a serious reworking. As is, Not only do you have dripping, which is broad, yet the correct tag for a char that is letting out precum, but leaking is horrendously ambiguous (certainly a whole lot than cum_squirt vs. cumshot IMO) if you're unaware of its very specific meaning!

Also, yes, it is entire possible for leaking cum to be dripping at the same time:
