Topic: people, PLEASE use the male and female tags properly

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

how does a post get this many tags

yet somehow goes without the male female male/female tags? that is not an accident.

i could do a search for the following: "-female -intersex" and what comes up? male and male/male obviously but also a ton of female and intersex pics because no one bothers to use these tags alongside TWYS.

please use these correctly so the search and blacklists actually work correctly. now excuse me while i go to fix more of these tagless pics.

ohhh, fuck i hate when that happens.  (○`O´○)

worst part is its usually blatantly obvious that one or more people in the pic are female and/or intersex.

I'm noticing a trend in some uploaders. They just tag really, really sloppily and/or lazily. Only four tags with one being 'tagme'.

Everyone makes mistakes. I sometimes slip up and forget genders or other "obvious" tags (species, anthro, solo). Too engrossed in tagging less-obvious details, I guess.
I usually fix it myself after uploading. It helps to see the tags categorized and alphabetized to catch my mistakes.

I think of myself as being rather thorough when tagging, but there's always some detail I overlook, a character I am unfamiliar with, or a tag I do not know that someone else adds.

Four tags is the minimum that the rules are asking for. At the very least: bare-essentials like artist, species, and genders.

Not much use in complaining when others falter when tagging. Just pick up the slack and fix the mistakes of others. After all, isn't that the point of open-tagging?

Not really complaining, so much as just pointing it out. Mis-tagging happens.

The uploader added "milf" and "mother" tags. These are often used subjectively, and milf implies mother but mother does not imply female. Maybe that should be changed.

You are on to something there!

milf is an even more subjective tag than cute (and more than a little derogatory).

Is it time to alias milf to invalid_tag ?

Know what's worse?

When people overcompensate! I deal on a weekly basis a tidal wave of post that are tagged herm getting the female and male tags even when solo or with another herm.... same happens with dickgirls. Cuntboy. Aaaargg

I've forgotten the simple gender tags at times. I try my best to remember everything, and to tag properly, but sometimes I can miss things. Other people can too. I get that it is frustrating. I have to add the human and not_furry tags to a lot of pictures to keep my blacklist working. But what makes you think it's not an accident? If anything, when there are lots of tags, it is easier to miss the lack of a basic tag.

Again, I've missed simple tags before. I know others have. What makes you assume malice over absent-mindedness?

Maybe having tooltips pop up when a user is trying to add certain tags would be a good thing, for exactly this purpose. 'Herm: a character with both penis and pussy. Do not tag as female or male, herm is a distinct gender.'

Sounds like something eSix Extend would include.

Would probably also help for such a tooltip to distinguish the difference between dickgirl and herm, as either of those fluidly apply to a single character based on what's visible in a particular scene.

It's not terribly uncommon for dickgirls to be mistakenly tagged as herm. (Or dickgirls to be tagged as female)

Herm only applies if both sets of genitals are visible. Exceptions are when an internal view depicts female reproductive organs, or if the angle of penetration heavily implies vaginal.
Otherwise, such images confer the dickgirl tag. "But the character is confirmed to be a herm" does not apply; That would be "outside knowledge" as per TWYS rules.

On that note, finding dickgirl/herm tagging errors is somewhat more tedious than I would've thought since a lot of images tagged as herm are missing the pussy tag where it is warranted.
