Topic: questions about Rocky tags

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

There are a bunch of rocky tags, some of which I think need cleanup.

Simple list:
23 rocky [type:]character
6 rocky_(character) [type:]character
40 rocky_(mlp) [type:]character
7 rocky_(series) [type:]copyright
1 rocky_4 [type:]copyright
11 rocky_and_bullwinkle [type:]copyright
2 rocky_cerotini [type:]character
3 rocky_horror_picture_show [type:]copyright
2 rocky_iv [type:]general
44 rocky_rickaby [type:]character

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Tags that seem ok to me: rocky_(mlp), rocky_and_bullwinkle, rocky_cerotini, rocky_horror_picture_show, rocky_rickaby

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

23 rocky [type:]character
6 rocky_(character) [type:]character

  • Various characters named Rocky, so both should probably be disambiguated.

Rocky tags includes
a) Rocky from "The Amazing World of Gumball"
b) character drawn by tetongu
c) whatever is in post #483574 (change to rocking?)
d) the Rocky that is presumably of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocky_%26_Rocky (post #480106 )
e) etc

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

7 rocky_(series) [type:]copyright

  • Combination of Rocky comic and one image that is presumably a Rocky Balboa reference.

1 rocky_4 [type:]copyright
2 rocky_iv [type:]general

  • Two tags for the same film.
    • Keep rock_iv ? (since Rocky IV is on movie poster etc)
    • and/or tag for movie series rocky_(film_series) ?

Pretty sure Rocky is a boxing movie.

yep, but Rocky also the name of other things.

should generic Rocky film tag be rocky_(films) ? rocky_(movies) ? rocky_(film_series) ?

About to change Rocky of Gumball images to rocky_(the_amazing_world_of_gumball) to match two other e621 tags:

  • 1 carmen_(the_amazing_world_of_gumball) [type:]character
  • 1 carrie_(the_amazing_world_of_gumball) [type:]character

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
And adding "the" to 2 images with "amazing_world_of_gumball" to join up with 505 images tagged with the_amazing_world_of_gumball.

oh, post #483574 would be rocking_out so I did that one.

I think go with rocky_(movie) as the tag for the movie. And then put all of the rocky_4 and rocky_iv and any other ones from the movie Rocky into that one. And make sure it ends up a copyright tag.

Separating out the characters into tags of their own is a good idea. And it looks like you're on the right track with this. Though, if I missed one you wanted feedback on (or if you have more questions) then let me know.

One more thing: turn the wiki for rocky and rocky_(character) into a list of these tags when you're done, so that it's easier for people to find the tag they're looking for. A few examples of what I mean by turning the wiki into a list: 1 , 2 , 3 Anything similar to that would work.

Just in case it comes in handy, here's a link on how to use Dtext (the formatting language we use on this site). https://e621.net/help/dtext That page shows how to create bullet points, links, etc. I often need to doublecheck how to format something using the info on that page, so you might find it comes in handy if you don't already have it memorized.
Another formatting tip: if you want to turn a written tag (like in a wiki or a forum post, etc) into a link to the tag, the easiest way is to type it

like this [[rocky]] with two brackets on each side,

and it will automatically turn it into a link to that tag's wiki page like this: rocky Which is perfect for linking tags on a wiki and a lot shorter than inserting a link manually. It's a built-in shortcut for that purpose.
