I realized if you don't put any tags in at all, general:tag_me gets added automatically.
I'm wondering if Artist:Unknown_artist could also get added when the uploader doesn't add a artist.

searching arttags:0 brings up images with no artist tags

I've suggested this before, and they "no" without giving a reason.
It's actually useful because arttags:0 breaks from time to time and doesn't get fixed for months.

Could be bad. New artist uploads an image with their artist name on it, doesn't change tag type, and it could go unnoticed if unknown_artist was automatically applied.

The best thing to hope for is arttags:0/arttags:>0 to not break.

It very simple for someone else, anyone to remove the tag and add the artist. - Plenty of people here are great taggers.

People tend to see the "Unknown artist" tag and just assume it's legit an unknown artist, though. They won't bother spending time to figure out who it was, whereas if there's a big fat "None" there, they look into the tags and realize, "Oh hey this one looks like an artist name" and tag it.

It was a long-standing bug but the code is already fixed. The only issue left is each post needs to be recounted since we fixed it (which can be triggered simply by editing the post).

I forced recounts on arttags:0..3, spectags:0..3, etc. so the vast majority of posts it would have affected should be correct by now.
