you do know that the majority of so-called "life hacks" are in fact common sense and/or more complicated methods of doing easy and simple activities, right? or the tl;dr version might be to avoid the wastes of time known as "life hacks".

oh and i'll skip that video as i prefer not to let my brain rot.

oh yeah, video games don't rot the brain. in fact, they can be educational in a great number of ways even outside the horrid realm of edutainment. :P

crazy fiction (religion, 'nuff said. consider it an opinion if you want to.) and insane ideologies (feminazis, SJWs, etc.), and...what can i say about tumblr that everyone doesn't already know? all 3 of those things DO rot the brain...and potentially zombify you. :/

That's a joke video. They aren't actual life hacks.

Dummy cord your gear. Canteen/Nalgene, Night Vision, GPS, multitool and pocket knives. Type 1 Paracord is great for this purpose, cut it long enough to make the equipment easy to get to, but not long enough to hit the ground or get wrapped around something

Facebook.

I mean, cmon. How did you not think of that.

Also that reminds me: Twitter, too.

Actually I thought about it, and Twitter could give Tumblr a run for it's money. @TheHuskyK9 mentioned YouTube comments, and those are basically the worst, but that doesn't really count because it's just the comments and not the content of the site, which is quite a lot of awesome. And as savageorange said, 4chan is not even close to the same size.

That makes Tumblr and Twitter the reigning King and Queen, respectively, of cancer and douchebaggery.

It's not as long as the one I took last year, which was four hours per class. I managed an A, but damn, I shouldn't have rescinded my promise never to do that again.

I'll probably do the same shit next year.

that reminds me of something i saw recently. ah, here it is: University drops math as graduation requirement as it mulls new diversity requirement

diversity studies are now more important than math in that college it seems.

I wish most universities had this mentality with all general education past high school but, if only one thing could be dropped, I'd much rather be mandated to take a math course than english, history, or social studies related courses.

Seriously, those areas are major demotivators for me.

I dunno, I feel that everyone thinks their favorite subject is "the one" that everyone should have some experience in :v

Mathematics are definitely important but there's not much reason to dabble in them if you don't plan to make a career that involves their use, as neat as math can be (this is regarding college, not public education).

But if there's one thing we can all learn from, no matter what our profession, it's history. No better way to learn than other peoples' example/mistakes. Besides, there's something for all of us!

Disagree. Unless you have a family business or already know how to do a certain trade, school is VERY important, especially college. There are a LOT of things they don't teach you in high school compared to college. High school is really just general education and college prep, which is why some feel the need to drop out because they are either already prepared for higher learning or they think they are already prepared. That dude in the video comes off as really pretentious and to be honest, I can't really pick out flaws in his ideology since he's in another country and I don't know what they teach over there. BUT, here in the US, the highest paying jobs require a degree in those fields of study. If not for the money, you still need expanded education for anything other than entry-level jobs. Even some entry-level jobs require a high school diploma.

TL;DR School is cool

In the USA trade school is a valid alternative to college for any of the more classical trades, otherwise you need college because everybody gets fucked in the USA.
Why a barista or burger flipper needs a diploma is anybodies guess but that is how it is.
Also,in the video the dude specifically states it's about Singapore, if you aren't in Singapore chances are it's not aimed at you.

And no I don't believe it's a metabolic problem specifically with me. I've recommended doing the same thing to overweight family members and friends they've all gotten the same results I have of losing weight rather quickly.

Personally, I don't work out/run/jog/am active. I do a LOT of gaming and this is the only trick I've found that keeps my body weight down while allowing me to play the games as much as I do. Every person I've recommended this tactic too they've started to lose weight so I don't believe its just me.

Totally Agree I play too many games and I don't focus on eating as much :P Keeps your mind off of eating. But yea I probably should exercise more too since that is not the most healthy way to stay skinny :P.
Also for life advice.... Well, whenever things don't go my way I make it an effort to not let things bother me, especially if I have no control over it. Don't let yourself feel frustrated, don't let your negative emotions get the best of you. It's important to not give up when it doesn't go your way no matter what (unless it's legitimately impossible or insane). Its important to give it your best effort, whatever task you are doing, and to not be frustrated with the results, you can't be because you gave it all you had into everything you do in life. :)

If you feel like you are about to sneeze, put your tongue on the top-back of your teeth. I don't know how it worked, but I swear it did for me!

Others is the superstitions that are true: if you are suffering an ice-cream headache, put your thumbprint (lack of better word) on the roof of your mouth; blinking rapidly for a minute or two can help you fall asleep; if you are disoriented and are laying down (I.E in bed), put a foot on the floor to help you reorient yourself. Others I can't remember, but I may update this if I do...

If you hate to exercise, consider sleeping in your workout clothes. Keep socks and sneakers right next to your bed, then jump right into them and get out and Just Do It!

You probably should have a few cheap sweat pants and shirts and wash them often though because could be gross sleeping in the same sweaty outfit night after night.

If you go, it's really important to get a degree in something good thougg, Sadly "follow your dreams" doesn't do much, also I have an associates degree and it's useless. It was mostly a stepping stone to my bachelors, but I can't even get something slightly above minimum wage lesigh.

Truth.

But also, school especially sucks if you are really smart as a youth.

The sad truth about School and being too smart at a young age:

Like husky said, if you don't have very much knowledge sbout a trade then school is cool because it helps you to learn it. But that really sucks for really smart people because even though you may know all the ins and outs of a certain trade, you still have to put up with literaly years of unessicary, useless, meaninless, and dare I say super boring bullshit, just to get a stupid piece of certified paper to get a job in a field of trade that you are already knowledgable enough to work in proficiently.

You already know how to program and do data analysis out of highschool? Have you managed multiple servers and defended them from script kiddie attacks by yourself at the age of, say, 16? Or maybe you built an entire company's website and managed their web campaign from scratch in one eight hour period at the age of 14?

Welp, too bad because now you have to sit through numerous lectures about stuff you already know and on top of that you have to do what amounts to low-grade data analysis just for busy work all while paying someone potentially less knowledgable than you about it thousands of dollars to stay on your case and piss you off for 4 years because "you are the student and they are the teacher".

And unfortunately that same bullshit goes for literally any feild of study you have already mastered during your younger life as well because you thought being smart actually meant somthing when you were younger. But nope, the only thing that really matters is a stupid peice of paper, so no matter how much you know about somthing you still have to put up with bullshit and pay a bunch of money you don't have just to be a productive member of society and if you don't your parents will hate you. (Probably)

On top of that, since you are still really young and don't have a degree in anything and have no job, no one takes you seriously when you say somthing that could help them in that field of work IRL because you "are just a child" and as such you "don't know anything" at all.

And low and behold if you have mastered more than one feild of study and when you get to college you can't decide which one to purseue as a career for the rest of your life. I mean, if you pursue a programming major but then decide after 2 years of study that you'd rather be a doctor because you think utilizing your medical knowledge will help save more lives than utilizing your programming knowledge as a creer path, then I hope you are rich. And most likely you are not, so too bad.

So moral of the story? I don't know. I guess it would be: it's better to be dumb than smart when you are really young so that life is way simpler when you finally enter college?? (Not that it's easier, just that it's simpler) At least, that's what I'd say it was given my experiences.

But if you are smart, then good luck.

Sure you may know alot already and anything you wish to learn to add to your knowledge you can research on your own pace online or using books and may even practice in your own time when the situation calls for it, and sure you may have an IQ of 147 at a mere 12-years-old, but in the end, your knowledge doesn't matter at all. It's that stupid piece of paper that you get from graduating college that really matters.

So kudos if you are just smart enough to barley get through school, for ye probably will have a fairly simple life as far as getting a career goes. Something I would love to have personally.

(But what do I know? Afterall, I'm just a 'stupid kid', right?)

dreams? worthless and no good pay.

boring wasting of years of your life for a stupid piece of paper? priceless.

that is one seriously fucked up reality when it's better to throw your life away and suffer for things rather than be happy doing what you enjoy and get nothing but crap for it. ಠ_ಠ no wonder some people would be happy just sitting back and watching the world burn. that'd probably make them happier than actually wasting time on stupid wastes of time and effort.

Kind of going off what Hudson was saying about the alarms:

You can NEVER set enough alarms. I have to get up around 12pm every day, so I start the alarm train at 11, having it go off at 11:00, 11:15, 11:30, 11:45, 11:50, 11:55, and THEN 12:00.

Eat something every 10-15 minutes.

Even if its something tiny like 3-5 skittles or half a granola bar. It'll keep your weight down.

This is a great way to destroy your teeth as you're constantly feeding the bacteria in your mouth and not giving your saliva a chance to clean your mouth.

If you're getting fat eating a few meals a day then your meals are too big. Fats and proteins take longer to digest thus they keep you full longer. Eat more of those than carbs. A strip of beef jerky will give you a slower release of energy over a longer period of time than a few skittles and is much healthier. The skittles will spike your blood sugar causing you to get hungry again in a short time.

Actually, one alarm is enough. I have my alarm clock clear across the room, so I have to actually get up to turn it off, and once I'm up and moving, I'm up and moving. Tired as I may feel, I can't just go back to sleep after I've gotten up.

I don't know. When I go to sleep thinking "I need to wake up at this particular time," be it for a test or some other important thing, I'll usually wake up before the alarm goes off, even if I only get a few hours of sleep, and I'll jump right out of bed.

It's when I don't have anything urgent in the morning that I'll need a dozen alarms. Otherwise, I just fall into the bottomless pit of "I'll get up in a couple minutes, no big hurry..." if I even wake up at all.

On the plus side, these retail chains really hate employees going over 40 hours, so you can potentially exploit this fact without jeopardizing your job during the busier times of the year or on those days when your coworkers decide to be extra shitty.

Seriously. If you're scheduled to work 40 hours or less over seven days, a really shitty day eating up a quarter of that time generally means an easier week. During the Christmas season, however...

or black friday. oh the horrifying videos i have seen of that day. SO glad i never have to worry about that. those poor employees though...i doubt a single black friday goes by without reports of injuries however minor/severe they may be.

Funny, I have my alarm set across the room, but because I'm so tall and my room is so small, all I gotta do is take one step and a small lunge to turn it off, then hop right back in bed.
Kinda defeats the point.

What I've noticed since I quit from walmart yesterday, I've noticed that I feel more in control of my life. Before, I felt like I HAD to work at Walmart because I'm not good enough to work anywhere else. My tip?
Take charge of the situation. When life gives you lemmons, squeeze those fuckers into your enemy's eyes. They'll never expect it.
