Topic: Tag Implication: female_rape -> rape

That is a very misleading tag. Is it the female doing the raping? Is it when a female is being raped? Should alias it to female_rapist so it is clearer first.

That would make it much clearer, yes. I approve of that idea.

Does male_rape, herm_rape, etc. also exist?

male_rape does exists, but none other.

However if female_rapist/male_rapist are deemed valid tags and takes off it might be just as good to fix all the things related as well, i.e. something like:

Those tags have existed for a couple of years or longer, and haven't been used much. So I'm not sure if those are actually needed. Useful tags tend to catch on faster than that.

And maybe it'd make more sense to tag the victim instead. Since that'd allow for specific searches in most scenarioes (such as multi-sex gang rapes, or tentacle rapes).

I would rather have the rapist themselves tagged. There's use for both.

That excuse rings pretty hollow when the general policy has been not to use gender in tags. Useful tags that go against policy tend to get deleted once they reach critical mass without regard to how much work went into tagging them or whether they will actually be useful for searching purposes.

Agreed, better to either kill tags early on or make them "official", not something in between.

theres plenty of people who are into female rape but its nearly impossible to find it without tag like female rape. so theres no reaso to get rid of it.

female rape has a pretty high hit rate, better combined with male/female or the like.

male rape doesn't, but if you added male/male it would. Not too much you can do for a female rapist but the domination tags (as Lance already mentioned) would probably help.

I know, domination is consensual in the context of bdsm, but there is enough overlap to warrant using it in searches.

I still think that tagging the victim would be more functional.

There's usually only one victim, so combining the victim tag with already existing tags (male/female, etc) would allow searching for pretty much anything.

And if there are multiple victims of various sexes (such as in some tentacle_rape posts), then that also seems like something that should be tagged. And those wouldn't be covered by *_rapist tags.

Tentacle_rapist?

feral_rapist, anthro_rapist, flying_spaghetti_monster_rapist... It's important to tag both sides of it.

Tentacle_rape already exists (which implies that someone is getting raped by a tentacle), but that's not what I was talking about.

This is a bit interesting. I've been tagging intersex posts with the new *_penetrating tags lately, however I've noticed that this only works well in duo posts for reasons mentioned by Genjar. While *_penetrated would have been much more interesting in many cases. So definitely see the point of tagging the victim more and that brings me to my question: Should we tag both the victim and the assailant?

Sure, I don't see why not.

That's what I've been suggesting the whole time, so yeah.

Just to clarify: female_rape really needs a rename before it can go anywhere. Also, this discussion is over 6 years old and I would like to know if some of the suggestions here still hold up or if better options or other factors might be relevant now.

fwiw, I suspect that tagging the victim might be more applicable than tagging the rapist, because the victim is usually the character that is shown in the most detail and the other character can often be partially out of frame or left more vague. But whatever direction we decide to go, I think [gender]_raped or [gender]_rapist would be a lot more clear in the intended meaning. I would also be interested to know how clean these tags stay (or is the use confused a lot) before aliasing tags like female_rape to a clearer name for it, after we've decided on one.

So feel free to suggest or work towards a better solution for this set of tags. I do think it needs one. I just don't think the original suggestion at the top of this thread is going to work.

It feels similar to the current situation of "aliasing young_domination to a more specific tag like dominant_young or submissive_young".

I also agree that female_rape implies at first thought that it's a female being raped, so I guess aliasing it to female_raped is the best course of action. female_raped currently has 2k posts.

Blimey, how policy changes over the years.
