The Hercules Hydra started with a single head, actually. It just split into more each time it was severed.

maybe so but the creature most commonly is represented as multiheaded in almost all depictions of mythology and instances of fiction as well as being what the fandom only knows a hydra as, its what its taged for in combination with other dragonlike features. To be honest the the only time a google search brings up a single headed hydra is in the disney film hercules^^;

if the heads are cut off, does it still count as multi head? i mean considering how much the hydra thing revolves around cutting heads off

point 1, how would we know its a hydra and not some other dragon or serpent without the extra heads?
point 2, does anyone draw/paint hydras with the heads cut off and are they tagged as such here on e621 when the heads are cut off *or not presently there/grown?

We can see stubs of necks, which suggests hydra. If it looks Hydra, we tag Hydra.

Yes. Despite there being heads too in that particular image, just the necks themselves would be a giveaway.

stubs of necks imply thru that there are or where multiple heads. or do we make a new tag for multi_neck>>
your comment does not defeat the point that multible heads is what makes a hydra under tgys, be it the whole heads or just the necks.

Necks aren't heads, so it wouldn't work.
