Working Logical NOT searches with wildcards

(Step 3 in the example below should return <=7 pages of 100 posts per page)

What actual behavior is given instead?
Parameter seems to be ignored entirely

Yes

What steps did you take to replicate this bug?
1. Do a search for spreading and note the result count
[I get ~726 pages of 100 posts per page]

2. Do a search for spreading -spread_anus -spread_butt -spread_pussy -spread_toes -spread_wings -spread_legs and note result count
[I get ~7 pages of 100 posts per page]

3. Do a search for spreading -spread_* and note result count
[I get ~726 pages of 100 posts per page]

Steps 1 & 3 currently return identical counts

Errors or other messages returned (if any).

Whoops, that wording was probably ambiguous

Steps 1 & 3 *currently* return identical results,

but theoretically 2 & 3 *should* return identical (or near-identical) results instead

For the record:
Logical AND searches with wildcards seem to work just fine:

wings = ~106 500 posts
wings spread_* = ~10 700 posts

This appears to be a long standing issue with the search parser.

Stitch can be a bit of a wildcard, but don't try to exclude him from things.

Any progress on this, or is the difficulty to fix it still delaying it?

I don't want to have to spend a bunch of tags and blacklist on controlling my search, as it takes a lot of time to enter and remove them constantly.
