I would argue that a distinction should be made between the physical cereal Trix as a subject of an image, and the brand name Trix as a metatag.

They are actually under the copyright General Mills, along with Lucky Charms, Cocoa Puffs, and Count Chocula.

trix_(cereal)

Then the other trix tag should read trix_(copyright) as users can be expected to use the shortest tag possible and that remains ambiguous

Previously suggested in forum #220639.

There's also the yogurt.

Is there a point in having a trix copyright tag? I'm actually asking.

It's hard to imagine that anyone would ever post anything Trix-related here without featuring the rabbit. So it does seem pointless.
Anyway, most posts under trix are actually of some feline named Trix...

Whelp I thought the trix copyright tag was dumb too, but when I took it away and aliased the other characters named "trix" the Trix Rabbit himself did not show up in the "maybe you meant" box. Dude got edged out by a fucking OC character named Trix. So I guess we're keeping the trix copyright so people can atually search for "trix" and get the freaking trix rabbit like God intended.
Also added "general_mills" as a copyright, and "trix_(cereal)" when applicable.

Don't nuke tags, please.

You might want to rephrase what they quoted, then...
Also, the cereal is called trix_(cereal), not trix_rabbit__(cereal), which you did remove the prior.

Ah, that was an error, thanks for catching it.
And I still never removed a tag because the "trix_(cereal)" tag never existed until just now. I created a bad tag is all, which I just now fixed.

You just worded what Furrin quoted badly. Specifically, "took it away", what did you take away?

You actually did remove a lot of both trix_(cereal) (even if you created it yourself) and a lot of trix_rabbit, according to your tag history.

You are fake news. Those were mistakes and I put them back in. My point is in the end no tags were removed, which is all that matters.

The edits were fixed, get off of each other's asses.

So we're not using trix_(cereal)? I see four posts listed under that tag, and I just wanted to get some clarification on that before I edit them.

Uh, no we are...trix_(cereal) is the tag to use when the actual cereal is in the image. trix is the copyright, and trix_rabbit is the mascot.

Then why are there only four posts tagged under it?

Again, why do we need both? They're identical: trix -trix_rabbit returns no hits, now that you moved the felines elsewhere.

How are you not understanding this? Because the literal cereal has to be in the image! Like...a bowl of Trix cereal. If you find more then tag them yourself, I just found four.

I already covered why I kept the "trix" tag...because there are actually a lot of characters whose name starts with "trix"...if I remove the "trix" copyright the trix rabbit straight up DOES NOT show up in the "did you mean?" when you search trix. If there is a way to modify that section to include the trix_rabbit I'd be all for it, but I assume it's auto-generated somehow, so for now I think it's best to keep "trix" as a copyright so people can actually find the trix rabbit easily.

Trix isn't a copyright. The name of the cereal and the associated characters belong to General Mills. In reality, Trix needs to have General_Mills implicated to it. There's no need to explicitly add trix_(cereal) to pictures with a bowl of Trix cereal in it. That's like saying we have to add a "genitalia" tag to all pictures with a penis/vagina/whatever in it. It's just generally a waste of time.
Plus, just to drive Genjar's point home, if there are no posts with Trix and no Trix_Rabbit, then what's the point? Just because it doesn't show up in the "Did You Mean?" doesn't mean anything.

I am waiting for the result of this discussion before doing the proper changes in the aforementioned forum topic (forum #220639).
