Topic: [Feature] Metatag w/ true amount of tags added (tags added - tags added from implications/aliases)

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
-- Add a meta tag to every photo from here on out that allows privileged and up to see how many tags a uploader/editor actually typed into the tags field, as opposed to how many tags came off of a tag they typed in due to implications and aliases.

Why would it be useful?
-- This would force users to actually type in the required ammount of tags instead of typing in one, having it add 3 more due to implications then make other users fill in the rest.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Upload -- Show

How will this improve the website?
-- This will allow users with power to help users understand the minimum tag rule, and teach uploaders that doing the bare minimum isn't very courteous.

Updated

+1. You can easily get past the 4 tag minimum by entering earth_pony, which implies my_little_pony and pony, which implies horse, which implies equine, which implies mammal. 6 tags from entering 1.

Alternatively, make it so the upload only goes ahead if the user actually types 4+ tags.

If only the database actually saved them.

If I remember right 4 tags minimum is 4 tags regardless of whether they are implicated or not. Ratte or NMNY would know more than I would.

Minimum of four tags per upload. Tagme, ratings, and implications do not count towards this minimum.

That was the default record for them a few months back. Recent ones don't mention implications, for some reason.

When I asked them, they said that the part that says "unimplicated" was outdated, and that they don't bother with that. Unless they 'redated' it, yeah, resulting tags is what matters.

I reckon the "4 tags minimum" is outdated. It should be increased to 10.

I agree as well. Even if this feature is to be disregarded in the long run, uping the tag requirement should accomodate the implicated tags. It'll hopefully require the uploader to manually add more than just 4 tags.

I disagree with 10 tags specifically: we allow images like zero_pictured, and trying to add at least 10 to simpler ones (like just text with a colored page) would be a nightmare.

4 is a good medium: one for artist (even unknown_artist), one for amount, one for gender/date, and one for species/background. Things that should be very easy to do, whereas 10 is a bit overt.

Some possibilities:

zero_pictured, *_text (→ text), info, *_background, artist, date, cover, advertisement, signature, watermark, colors (monochrome, colorful, *_theme, cool_colors, warm_colors etc), border, story, not_furry etc.

Plus, like I had said, implications from tags that you manually input into the tags field, esp. if the feature I made is disregarded, would make up for that. If not, then if you don't add 10 tags in the case of zero_pictured, then I'm pretty sure the admins will be more lenient on that rule.

I could go into why I think zero_pictured is a dumb tag, but I'm trying to stay on topic. Yada yada comic-completeness yada yada.
