Topic: tied_together and bound_together

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Tying is a specific type of bounding that involves hopes, straps, ribbons ect binding the characters togeder.
Bounding itself is a bit more ample; for example: two characters with their hands stuck in a single handcuff are bounded, however not tied.

"bound" is more general...you can be bound by just about anything...rope, tape, straight jacket, etc.

"tied" is more specific in that there has to be rope or some type of cord involved.

We should just let the more general term absorb the more specific one. So basically:

Alias: tied_together -> bound_together

Honestly I feel like the meaning of "tied_togehter" is already getting stretched by images like these:

Those are not tied_together imo, but they are bound_together

I mean, in theory, sure, they could be nuanced enough to be separate, but:

A) They're synonyms.

B) They're not actually being used any differently than each other because taggers don't do nuance.

So it seems to me there should probably just be one or the other, and anyone who types in the one that isn't used, gets it autocorrected to the more common one.

P.S. for the Zootopia thumbnail Dyrone linked: There are several pictures of Nick and Judy cuffed to each other and those have no tags to that end. Either this picture doesn't need it either (it matches the tag in technicality but not in spirit), or all of them need a tag.

Which is exactly why I suggested aliasing tied_togetherbound_together

It's almost like you skipped over my post entirely when you wrote that. Like "gee, we should really think of maybe aliasing one to the other, but which one? HMMMMMMM" Yeah, I already covered that.

That image matches the bound_together tag completely...they should all have it, they just don't because it's an obscure tag.

Now now! I wasn't ignoring your post. In fact, the first part of your post ("one is general, one is specific") appeared to me to be at odds with the rest of it ("they're the same enough that they should be aliased"). S'why I replied the way I did. Could've been a misunderstanding.
