Why is it, that among all the almost completely "professional" verbage for tags, "pussy" is used to tag the vagina? A penis isn't tagged as dick or cock, anal_penetration is not "buttfuck" or some derivative. Hell, penetration of the vagina uses "vaginal_penetration", not "pussy_penetration."

Curious as to why this is.

No, but it is the term for the external genital package of a woman. If you want to get technical, tagging it as a vagina is erroneous because that refers to the vaginal canal. Calling it a pussy is quicker and easier than calling it a pudendum.

You could also call it a vulva.

Pretty sure that decision was made long before I arrived on the site, but I know the preferred method in the past has been to just use whichever word is more "popular" on the site. It's very likely what happened was at one point there were a lot of images tagged "pussy" and not as many images tagged "vagina", so when the two were ultimately aliased together, preference was given to "pussy" because it was the more popular tag.

Because "pussy" is applicable whether or not the vagina is visible. "vagina" would not be a good replacement tag. vaginal_penetration, on the other hand, is accurate, as it is actually the vagina that is being penetrated.
