Topic: [Feature] Tag locking Mode on the index pages

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.

A new tag locking mode for the index page would be neat.

Why would it be useful?

This would allow us to more quickly fix up tags when someone has done stupid things on a larger scale.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?

I can see the use of it. I only don't get what use of the locked tags is, since (as far as I know) everyone can change it again.
But yes, it would work good against site abusers. And ask yourself the question: why shouldn't you? Because I don't see any bad side-effect. You could even use it as some sort of mass-tag editing thing.

I think there was something about adding fields to the Tag Edit Mode of the index search in the old feature requests thread, but I can't find it through a search.

The requests before were more for including an edit reason to it, because I like to add a reason but don't like to enter into every last image to include it. Separate or together, +1.

only admins can use it and it makes impossible to change the locked tags.

Well, then it is a good idea! But I don't think admins would be admins if they would 'do stupid things on a larger scale'. But if they have a f*ck-everything-day, the mess will be easier to clean up. Or when they made an 'accident' of course :P

the large scale mess up referred that when non-admin users go large scale tag messing and this feature is meant for making fixing their mess and preventing it from happening again easier and faster.

What sites have you been on that the admins "make mistakes" of that caliber and get away with it as such?

There was that one time an admin plastered an entire wiki with his theories about how everything related to circumcision.
