Topic: Help with adding characters?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

So I have a question about characters. I have around 5-6 photos to upload all containing one OC that isn't on the site. I have noticed other Fan Characters in the posts will have the name of the character in the "characters" spot. How do I add this new character to the site? Do I have to get it approved somehow?

Updated

When creating the tag put character: in front of it. It will set the tag type to character. e.g. character:kira_(kiranoot) Make sure your character name doesn't overlap with something else, and the general guideline for character tags is to name them name_(character) if the name is currently unique but overlaps with something else, or name_(owner) if they are not unique and already used by another character.

As these will be your first uploads, I strongly suggest reading through the uploading guidelines first.

Ok, well. A small issue. The name of the character is also the owners name, and the character is also already used for a name. So would I just put Mars_(Mars) ? (That is character and owner name)
I could probably use a different owner name but I don't know for sure...

Yeah that's a really generic name so you can't use character:mars and probably don't want to use mars_(character). mars_(mars) might be the best solution, it's a bit silly but there are plenty like it.

Well, actually I searched Mars_(Character) and there is not one character like that. Should I use Mars_(Character) or Mars_(Mars) I really want your opinion on this.

My general rule of thumb is to name the character owner if the character is unique and named, unless I can't find the character owner's name. I'd recommend using "mars_(mars)" in this case, although an alternate username would seem less redundant.
