Um... I'm not sure if this was requested or not. But I think a section where people could publish furry related stories would be awesome.

I don't see how it would be useful, other than improving the quality of the site.

I don't know what pages would be affected. I was hoping maybe it would have its own page and its own system similar to the picture tagging system.

Hah. You posted this a minute before my own story related post.

But, this has been requested before, and as much as I'd like to see it, the response has always been a "no", unfortunately. I don't think anything has changed, so I expect you'll get another "no" here too.

Are you a fan of stories then? Or a writer yourself?

Both, actually. And if I ever work here, I would personally design the tagging system myself for a story section, and the web pages. Just gotta finish college first.

You don't need to change or design anything. Just replace the image with blocks of text for text uploads.

So, would you really rather just stick with art? That only makes the website good for one thing. Simple is not always better. Sometimes people want to see variety.

To be honest, I would like this as well. I'd like to think that I'm a good author, even more so compared to my art.

Our page is known for its tagging system, our tagging rules are not aimed at written descriptions. We would, at the very least, need a separate tag database, new rules, new pages, new searches and indexes to facilitate full-text searches of the documents, as well as add support for text files (including sanitation of input to prevent cross-scripting attacks and other fun stuff).
There is also some more stuff that would need to be happening but that's something our actual devs would need to weigh in on.

If that were to happen it wouldn't be anytime soon, so this isn't about simplicity because its pretty much asking Intel why they aren't building cars.

That would cause a whole lot of spam and still suffers from the very basic implementation of our forum.

How would adding a blips section to an image site improve it's quality?
I'm sure they meant the site overall would have more traffic and a larger active userbase if we were to add a stories section, much like FA (but without the poor excuse for a tagging system).

Then I'll get some friends and we'll try to create a separate tagging system. Just tell me what I'd have to do, and I'll do it when I'm finished with college. It may take a while, but I'm stubborn, and I will eventually get things done so it can include authors as well as artists.

You might as well start your own site.
There are better-suited systems out there for text.

If you want to post stories, stick to FA, Sofurry, or someplace else. e621 was designed to be an imageboard hoster and nothing more.

im pretty sure even if this was possible technically, logistically this would be impossible to moderate with the present TWYS policy and the number of members on staff.

Im pretty sure most staff here dont really have the time to read thru 100s of stories, most between 1 and 5 pages worth of text and some numbering in the 20+ pages, and a good third of all furry oriented stories that pretty much rehashing the same plot or lack there of over and over again, reading is going need to be payed^^;...

if you want stories right now then some can be searched thru story_at_source or story_in_description tags...
