Ever heard of Beast Wars?
kinda like one of the first CG television animated series
man I liked that show even tho i'm not a transformer fan
kinda wish they remaster/remake that show.

I remember that show. It would air in the mornings with Monster Rancher and Starship Troopers: Roughneck Chronicles on the WB in my region. Then they moved the second season over to Fox Kids Saturday morning block.

i don't remember much of it but i know i saw a good bit of the show when it was on tv. don't think the video game adaptation did very well but what i vaguely remember of it, the show was decent. well, at least for its time.

kinda hard to judge an old cartoon (especially CG and 3d) after seeing so many other far better made ones over the years. i mean, i rewatched the original power rangers movie a while back and while decent, the 3d models all had that problem where the lighting gives the reflective surfaces those dreaded unnatural looking reflections. the same problem you often see with eyes in high quality character models.

and now they're making (or is it already out now?) transformers: the last knight movie. so maybe they'll make a transformers cartoon series with that as the theme.

beast wars... i bet the production value for that series was pretty expensive at the time since 3d and CG animation was still pretty new even in the late 90's.

It's was a pretty good show
I think it needs to be remastered tho as the cg is kinda dated
but the story telling was pretty good
as for the cgi yeah it's... good for it's design but needs to be remastered.

And yes the video games were awful
I think the n64 port was the worst as it was a blockbuster exclusive and way different then the ps1 version, but alot of licence games were kinda like that.
Good shows with awful video games.

I think that movie been out for a while and people don't like it... finally XD

Yeah it could been, but now a-days 3d cartoons shows have pretty good cg budgets
near Madagascar 1 and Monsters, Inc 1 quality.

Yeah I watch it every time
I wasn't a big transformers fan, but beast wars got me into
then Beast Machines came along that was kinda forgettable
but they did had a few good beast designs like the Wolf "Noble"
but I hated Rattrap design in that show... his feet wheels.

Yup I know that I was a Reboot fan too
was disappointed when it end with a cliff hanger and never continue...
and more disappointed when Reboot is gonna have a reboot with live action actors?

o_O boy, some of the older of these looney toon cartoons they still air on boomerang sure are showing their age these days.

i've seen a number of them where the warner bros. logo, and in some cases the whole cartoon, have started looking mighty fuzzy with the colors starting to get messed up somewhat or the brightness might be off on the intro/outro scenes like said warner bros. logo.

it's nice that they still air them of course but it leaves me wondering how much longer these old cartoons have left before time simply runs its course with them.

though i am starting to get tired of seeing tom & jerry so much. :/ beats most adult swims shows though.

edit: also, it seems Dish Network now has 2 reasons for why the hopper/joey boxes might randomly stop working for a while.

1. lost signal

2. lost broadband internet connection

yeah...apparently you need an internet connection to watch tv now which i can only assume is due to it having access to things like netflix.

I hope you are not implying that DIGITIZED archived cartoons are steadily losing image quality...

It's more of a comparison thing. It's kinda like how video games that were considered realistic 20 years ago don't look realistic now. They only looked realistic back then because they were more realistic than anything else available at the time, and less realistic than what's available now. Their appearance didn't change, our expectations did.

When it comes to cartoons, pretty much anything hand-drawn is going to look inferior to something created entirely in CG. Compare The 5th season of The Simpsons with the 21st, or the 1st season of Pokémon with the 12th, or the 1st season of Dragon Ball Z with the 6th. You'll see a noticeable difference in graphic quality.

I kind of feel like Quake 1 still looks kind of good today, despite it now looking like Quake 64 compared to Quake Champions, and I also strangely prefer the hand drawn Simpsons over the newer digitally drawn seasons.

I remember how all of those controversial (the censored eleven cartoons were never really re-released I think, since it'd be impossible to release these cartoons these days) cartoons had messages that told viewers that these cartoons were products of their time.

The 1981-83 Chrysler Imperial is a car that is never brought up when talking about cars, or when talking about American Luxury Cars. I personally like it because unlike the Lincoln Mark VI and the Cadillac Eldorado, it doesn't feel like the last generation but downsized, it feels like a new generation, also because it's the most 80's looking luxury I can think of.

C.W. McCall's other song. Now I'm pretty sure we know about the song Convoy, but do you know about the other songs he made like There Won't be more Country Music, 4 Wheel Drive, and Aurora Borealis?

Well, since this was re-opened, I might as well mention Pogo.
50's anthro comic by Walt Kelly, full of brilliant social commentary that's still largely relevant nowadays. It's hard to get into because the characters have their own "swamp-speak" dialect, but once you get past the initial barrier it because easy to understand. Highly recommended, especially the first decade of the syndicated strips. One of the true comic classics.

While at it, I'm gonna throw out a recommendation for the movie The Holy Mountain (1973). Not for everyone, since it's chock-full of nudity, sexual imagery, and occasional gore. But it is a great reminder of the weirdness that was the 70's.

Y'know, as a child of the 80's, I said to myself that I was prepared to watch that trailer.

I was wrong.
