Topic: Peeking: peeping vs penis_tip, aliasing one to penis_tip

Posted under General

The tag peeking seems to be populated with two types of posts: those involving peeping at someone or peeking through eyes, and those involving the tip of a penis poking out of a sheath.

The tag penis_tip would mean the same thing as peeking when used for the second meaning. I've noticed that posts that are tagged with penis_tip and peeking are not all the same though.

Should the peeking tag be split between looking at someone vs poking out of sheath, and then have the latter imply penis_tip?

I think you've got a good point. I agree.

I did a quick look at the tag and saw quite a few images implying the viewer was the one being a voyeur. I think it should be disambiguated since there are at least three different ways people are using it currently.

I'm trying to think of a good word to refer to someone looking, and peering keeps coming to mind. I don't know if that's a good choice, though.

Possible things:
peering
peeking_at
peeking_(visual)

Definitely not a master on tags so these are probably poor suggestions, but it's something I've thought about.

I propose we move this thread from "General" to "Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions"

Yeah, it would make sense to disambiguate peeking to being_watched, voyeur, and a more specific version of peeking.

Conversationally, I feel like there might be some traction for a tag like peeking_over_object or peeking_under_object

Also _through_fingers, _around_object (like they're behind a tree or wall and are looking around the side), and maybe _behind_curtain and _through_leaves?

Holy shit my mobile browser crashed when I was composing a response. Yay. Here's a screenshot of what I had. Don't want to bother transcribing it.

Per peeping's wiki, the peeper must not be observed by their object(s). Mistags there. I would rename it something like secretly_watched to make the tag's intent clearer.

Spying is a loose end.

As a warning, I feel like my head is wrapped in cotton and there is so much snot that it's ridiculous. please don't fret if I'm nonsensical.

Ooh, yes. Also, like... _through_window -- though there is already looking_through_window.

Gotta be careful not to do too many, though-- most people won't want to look specifically for looking over the back of a couch or something.

Honestly _over_object and _under_object are probably already overkill, but it helps clarify that it's not a dick peeking out.

....There's gotta be something for like, the lifting up of someone else's skirt/dress/shirt.

general agreement. Messy tag. Needs a better name.

Also, I will be unlazy for you <3

I also arrived at peeking_at.

Peeking is a looking_at_* situation distinguished by the peeker's curiosity. I like such tags that describe complex ideas.

Sometimes the peeker is overcoming fear (e.g., covering eyes or hiding but not looking away), guilt (e.g., son't want to get caught looking), or simple social boundries (e.g., clothing lifts and pulls to look at someone's crotch). Sometimes the peeker is exploring or searching places or things, like looking under or inside things. Other times the peeker stares at someone shamelessly or even expressionlessly, usually while unobserved, which can be moved to the appropriate of being_watched or voyeur.

It overall sounds like we've got a number of ideas here:

  • covertly watching
  • the act of looking over/around/through something.

or something. I don't know. I"m trying really hard to collect my thoughts but... the snot is too thick, guys.
