Topic: [Tag alias form] is there something I an doing wrong?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

JinYa has officially changed his name to あかばね じん (Akabane Jin). while it is true that his old artist name is JinYa, it will cause confusion if anyone were to be searching for his profile since his official profile name does not match with the tags at all.

but when I try to suggest the alias, it gives off a message saying "jinya is already aliased to something" which completely rejects the suggestion I give.

I know the name is written in Japanese, but I feel like this does not match with his current name.

He should've changed his name to "Clickubaitu" instead!

please refrain from insulting the artist, the artist is not from this site and therefore can have freedom to change his name as per the rules of the sites he is in.

(unless that was meant to be a joke, in which case is not too obvious.)

Munkelzahn isn't making fun of or insulting the artist, they are making fun of you, for having a terrible, uninformative, clickbait thread title that contains literally no information or relevance to the topic at hand.

You honestly might as well have titled this thread "An examination of the dietary habits of Z. californianus over time as a result of overfishing" and it would have exactly as much relevance to the topic at hand.

It was a subtle hint that the thread title "WOT?" is rather meaningless.
It's kinda hard to distinguish threads or remember what they're about when titles are clickbaity.

IOW: please refrain from using clickbaity titles for threads

sorry, I wanted that to be a joke in itself but I will make it more serious if it is insulting. I will also not do that in the future, just take it as me learning a lesson the hard way.

but in all honesty, I really want to know why a suggestion is not allowed if an alias already exist.

According to the link, jinya

The following tags are aliased to this tag: akabane_jin, あかばね_じん, matra_usagi

When a tag already has other tags aliased to it, you aren't allowed to request that it gets aliased away through the official form, so just copypaste an existing form and edit the information in, but include a note about why the link is empty (ie, "Other tags currently alias to Jinya, so had to submit unofficial form")

yeah, that is what I mean.

but in all honesty I do not understand why I am not allowed to suggest it if it already exist, aren't suggestions meant to be made to suggest things? why is it not allowed I will never understand.

I think the problem is that this alias already exists:
あかばね_じん --> jinya

You then tried to suggest this alias:
jinya --> あかばね_じん

This would create a circular graph.

is there a way to reverse it? if Japanese text is not allowed, at least use akabane_jin which would be more accurate.

There are many artists whose names here on e6 don’t match on other sites. The likelihood of the name getting changed is very low.

There's this thread from last year about the first made aliases.

If we want we can flip those over to use the transliteration of his newest name, instead of the old one from before 2014.

As for the question why you can't suggest to alias something that's already aliased to something else: Safety precaution.
The server's logic can't exactly handle paradoxial situations because that's not how computers work. So the best way to prevent paradoxial situations is to simply not allow them to happen in the first place.
