Topic: [Question] How do I know if an image is already Uploaded?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

It's been around 2 years since i uploaded pictures and becuase of that i lost my edge around the site.

I know there was something on here that allows me to check if a picture is already uploaded but for the LIFE OF ME i cannot figure out where it is, what's it called, and how to access it.

If ya know what im talking about please feel free to refill my boggin on checking on existing images before i upload the pics. Thanks!

Also e621's uploading page itself will notify you if the file you're uploaded already exists on the site too.

Mind you, it only does this if the file matches, so higher or lower resolutions of the same images usually won't be detected as the "same".

We do have quite extensive tagging system, so most basic way is to search the post and see if it pops up. With new posts, simply searching artists newest posts is usually easy thing to do.

http://iqdb.harry.lu/ is the tool for that

Will still say that SauceNAO is better and usually up more often as well as looks up other possible sources like deviantart and pixiv.
http://saucenao.com/

Do note that both of these services are based on crawling, so content that they didn't manage to crawl they cannot find, e.g. if staff deleted the post in minutes from upload, service was down when new content was uploaded and deleted or if the image is 8 years old.

This is based on MD5 hash, meaning you can do this without uploading.
Search md5:<md5 hash> to look up if there's images here with same hash.

Another useful metasearch are source:furrysite.us/post/12345 and width:100 height:100 if you are looking specifically sized image.
