Topic: Tag Alias: silent -> no_sound

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Silent has 12 freakin' posts.

Twelve.

Allow me to go through them.

post #1724194 Character drawn as if in silent hill
----- Should be, and is, tagged Silent Hill

--- ... is a tag. I am not sure it should be. c_c

post #157690 a pair of characters not speaking. Very stoic.
post #20079 a character not speaking.
--- if we had a tag for an absence of speaking, it would be a ridiculously bloated tag.

post #851605 A picture with word bubbles with no text.
post #9353 A picture with word bubbles with no text.
post #8385 A picture with word bubbles with no text.
post #8384 A picture with word bubbles with no text.
--- This probably should have a tag of some sort. but Silent is not it. the characters are not silent, we jsut don't hear what they are saying.

post #20204 A comic with no dialog
post #19510 A comic with no dialog
post #13544 A comic with no dialog
--- if we had a tag for an absence of speaking, it would be a ridiculously bloated tag.

post #281182 an animation with no sound and subtitles
--- This seems to be no sound!

Soo.. this doesn't really seem like it's worth an alias OR a disambiguous to me.

Quantity shouldn't dictate whether something is handled with care, because simply shoveling something under the desk won't stop people from tagging something as such on future posts. So simply cleaning the tag out is a temporary fix,

silent -> invalid_tag would be the most appropriate to go with as far as I'm concerned if the tag doesn't get a disambiguation.

Not a fan of invalidation since you have no way of knowing what you fucked up.

12 posts over 10 years. I think the rate of error would be acceptable.

Especially since my 'favorite' alias would be to no_sound, wherein, it should only be applied to videos and animations, so errors are pretty easily spotted.

But seriously, one mistag a year is not worth yet another disambiguous that no one will ever clean up, because it's never mistagged.
