You've got some of your words in a slightly confusing order, so hopefuly I'll answer this correctly.
So.
Let's pretend I have an OC named Ruby McSnorttles.
ruby_mcsnorttlesis a good tag.
but I never call her Ruby McSnorttles. McSnorttles basically is only on her character sheet and no one ever rememebers it. She's just Ruby.
Rubyis bad. ruby_(snowwolf) is good.
If Ratte draws Ruby for me, though, the tag for the character should still be ruby_(snowwolf). The artist doesn't play into it. the character owner is the important part of the character name. :)
Many times artists area also character owners, but not always.
