Topic: Cloudflare messing with the API?

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

Hey,

I am running a Telegram Bot called eSixNotifier. It is using the API as allowed also has a custom User-Agent on which it runs for quite some time now.

As I have noticed Cloudflare is now popping up when browsing on e621. Is that messing with the API? Because I can't seem to get any data of it when I'm trying that from my Server.

afaik it's to protect the site from a DDOS attack.

Which is a good thing of course :P But it seems like it's not active very often, is that new or has the site just started to get under attack by some that don't like e621?

If I understood stuff I saw on e6's discord correvtly, the site is under DDOS attack right now.

I don't know about a DDoS attack but I've noticed the past few weeks E6 has been down about three times, for an hour or two at a time, and apparently only on a few non-US servers.

When it was last down I used a website to check places that also couldn't connect, there was London and maybe four others, so I presumed the Cloudflare protection was increased because of that.

Quick edit:
With several countries not being able to access the site a DDoS attack would fit, and the outages would have been from the countries that were flooding E6 with traffic, or at least where most of the bots were located.

Thanks for that.

Also I must have been replying as you posted yours, reading it back it looks like I was doubting you, sorry if it came across like that, I was replying to SnoopyDerpy's comment above yours and forgot to click the "respond" button.

Well at least cloudflare does it's job and keeps it running.

I was just wondering why my bot didn't get a response fr e621 but my browser does. I'll implement some stuff to not keep trying to pull data if it's not working for some requests.

Still sucks that people need to try and shutdown communities because they don't succeed or are mad because an admin/privileged may did something to upset them. But that's the digital life I guess.

It's been messing with my admin scripts too, but at least it is for a good reason. Some gay baby has been trying to DDoS the site because they got banned or some shit.
