Topic: App for managing large offline stash. Picassa alternative?

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

Hey, can you recommend some app for managing and viewing large (10 000+) image collections. Picassa seems like good idea, but it's outdated and abandoned. Thanks for answers!

I've used Adobe Lightroom, which works quite well for the purpose. Expensive, though.

Hydrus seems interesting, might end up switching to that. Shame that it probably doesn't allow importing tags from Lightroom.

Hydrus is not for the non-geek minded. I'm a geek, and even I don't get it. Hell, getting shimmie2 setup was easier than that. It's a shame that Shimmie2 has a shit interface.

I like hydrus but ended up not using it as the gallery downloader lets you download a search, like your favourites, but the watcher thread, to keep it updated, only checks one page, so you have to remember to run it regularly.

Then it doesn't use the api and is also kinda slow to go through a lot of pages, it took half the night to check 7k posts and add new tags to the internal database, without downloading the image.

If there was a combination of the watcher and gallery downloader, where it went through a search and stopped after it found an already downloaded post, it'd be a lot better I think.

(Please let me know if I'm wrong with that one, and that exists, I'd be fine with the speed if I could set it to download a search, like "pool:000" and keep it updated without needing to worry about it only checking one page)
