Topic: Is there a way to make lots of tag edits faster?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Howdy forum browsers,

The title already basically says it all, but to elaborate, I've been trying to populate the bird_feet tag (it has a wiki page and everything but only had 500 or so posts when I found out about it). I've added it to loads of posts manually, but there's so many more that could be done ("'avian' + 'solo' + 'toes'" has 21 pages of posts to tag alone) that I was wondering if there's a faster way.

Some sort of script, perhaps? I've no idea really.

Tag scripting as a built-in feature is exclusive to "privileged" accounts and higher.

There's the "edit posts" mode while going through pages of posts, which you can select from the dropdown that normally says "view posts", but at that point you're obviously only able to see thumbnails. It's still slightly faster if you don't need to see the full images, though.

Yes and the reason for this is pretty much that if you don't know what you are doing, you can do much more damage much more quickly which is extremely hard to reverse.

Also even then, if there is situations where multiple posts with simple search need to have new tag, usually this is handled by implication instead and/or requires manual checking of all individual posts at least to some degree.

Even I mostly use the tool to quickly pool posts by adding tag pool:<ID> however even then if I'm the one uploading I'll usually add that during upload so once again the script is not used.
