Topic: Well, it had to happen eventually.

This place is no longer the open, accessible, highly usable, portable and *beautiful* site that we originally made it to be.

It couldn't last forever, we guess.

This new look, look way of doing things, hiding of stuff...

and no more mascots?

RIP Hexerade.

More like RIP the entire home page.

Unfortunately though, this is one of the smallest fish to fry from an ever-overflowing bucket of fish.

I'll be honest - as someone who never really modified the site settings from defaults or put extensions on it, I see the changes to be less major than everyone's making it out to be. I mention this because the "accessible, highly usable, and portable" feeling really hasn't changed for me.

Just my two cents.

yeah i miss the home page since i could go from home>login>account>sets>porn but now its 18+>posts>login<posts>login>posts>account>sets>porn
the way the new login works means that since i have bad connection i have to reload/backout since the login button is disabled while waiting and to login on the old site i had to press it twice same here also i saw same wack shit when on the posts page without my blacklist

Can you expand on that last part? Is something hidden? I'm not trying to be difficult, I just don't pay enough attention to observe any site changes. I'm curious to know if something has changed in the boards operation.

They're referring to the new default blacklist. Certain posts are automatically blacklisted when you're not logged in (gore, cub, etc.)

There’s a short explanation of why the blacklist exists here If ya wanna know a bit more about it.

Tldr; it exists to keep the site from being taken down or blacklisted by other foreign countries who view certain content to be illegal.

It's not that.

The style is more basic now. The little flairs and touches stripped away. Things like the layout positioning, the way information was handled and presented. The carefully chosen color palette.

And some things are just awful, like the duplication of information on post pages, for one. Why are they now showing some bits of information TWICE?

And as for the reasons given, it makes me wonder just what was DONE to this site. It was, as of 2.0, built to be scalable to a very high degree, with most parts easily extended across wider infrastructure.

Given the tech changes between then and now, it should have been an easy task to many<>many the front and backend parts and further warehouse and distribute high traffic and I/O bound operations away from in-memory caches, data tables, even complicated relational operations could have been transacted and mapped even further and spread out.

So for things to get the way they have, that these measures and changes were needed. What the fuck happened, we wonder?

Can you be more specific? What's wrong with layout positioning?
The April 1st update has brought the site to be as close to the original as possible. What "flairs and touches" are missing?

Yeah, it seems to be coming up to standard. There's minor things but many of them have been around since site was new. See: Different ordering of tags list in mouseover (search results) versus when you load the post. Although to be fair, it might make more sense to just bring over the color-coding of said mouseover lists instead of reordering them.

That "OMG blocked in Russia!" thing is so hilarious though. Sorry to have to tell you, if it's not blocked, it's an oversight, not some compromise. The real problem was advertisers, as older E-H users will tell you. Corporate deplatforming, demonetizing, de-democratizing.

In comparison, I saw sites like Yahoo that entirely broke their site on purpose, not just because of rough upgrade. Interfaces intentionally making you stay on the site to improve some dubious metric, that drives users away, and more importantly keeps new ones from coming. This has happened to so many things over the years, that it's like SSDD for older folks - it's not an Internet thing - it's a organization/corporation thing.

Tl;Dr It can get much worse.

Geez guys, I’m not happy with some of it too... make it a bitch an a half to navigate on a phone. ESPECIALLY if your looking for a tag on a post and said post has like 200 comments... but I get why they did it, it was either that or get firebombed by righteous idiot zealots cuz of the cub content primarily.
It’s not THAT bad. And I very much appreciate the setting that attempts at hiding my favs from others... now if only it worked with google too... (I have a LOT of cub, and incest favs and comments on such posts that google pops up when you search my name with “ “ yikes lol.

As for deco, I know they had/have plans to add the front page back, and maybe add the site themes back too.

I don't like some of the tag changes. When you blacklist male-only it automatically blacklists all images with males in it, what a terrible feature to have

RIP Hexerade.

Really like how out of touch someone can be.

Site has grown, time has moved on. You can't rely on exact same software for decades, it has to be updated and when you can't update it, you replace it. I dearly hate furaffinity as they are also most likely running exact same code they did decade ago and are just splasing new color on top instead of fixing any issues.

Before the site even changed, I already saw you changing character tags to same tag that someone elses character is already using, which should've been disambiguated - this should still be cleaned up. Both arki and arcturus have several seperate characters on the tag.
And now posting DNP content resulting your avatar being white box with "deleted".

Just because you made something originally, doesn't mean you can just come in and break the guidelines and rules of the place and then complain how the place isn't how it used to be.

Only thing I'm aware of being hidden is uploader:
- To avoid new situations of users who are deliberately doing everything they can just to be shown next to highly popular upload.
- Overall further make uploader less significant part of the post as the artist should be in main focus, to avoid situations of users claiming their posts have been "stolen".
- Artists claiming that someone stole/plagiarised their work as their name is not in the uploader part.
- Protect the uploaders from people who do not know how the system works and forwarding them to use tickets instead or be in contact with staff members.
Uploader is still always visible in tag history like always. Another thing hidden is flagger, but this is kinda irrelevant information to begin with.

Also front page is now back up.

Well, first of all, blacklist functions have not changed at all.
Secondly, male-only is not a valid tag on the site. Correct method, like it has always been, is male solo on single line.

Either way it still hides images with males in it, even if there are females in the same image. The system automatically changes the tag to male

I think you have to blacklist something like male -female -ambiguous -intersex -rating:s all on one line. This will let you see non-safe posts with males in them only when there's also a female, ambiguous, or intersex character.

Thank you, that worked
