Topic: Why is andromorph getting mistagged on so many images?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I've been removing the andromorph tag from roughly three images per day since the new site launch. Is there some bug in the tagging system for implied/automatic tags that's causing it to be applied incorrectly to random images? It's from multiple different uploaders, a few of whom don't remember tagging andromorph in pictures. So clearly it's a trend and not just a single person or small handful of people mistagging.

If it's a case of them simply mistaking andromorph for anthro when tagging from the new autocomplete feature maybe we should revisit the specific choice made for the cuntboy/dickgirl replacement and maybe make intersex_male and intersex_female the primary tag. Shit's getting annoying policing a single tag just to keep it from getting flooded with posts that are simply... incorrect.

I...really have no idea what's going on, considering the content of (most of) the things you removed this tag from. Like, what the fuck, seriously.

On further examination, a lot of the male/female images you removed andromorph from, were also tagged "invalid_tag" by the same people who tagged them andromorph. Perhaps there's some tag that used to imply andromorph, but has since been removed from use by way of aliasing it to invalid_tag, without anyone bothering to remove the implication?

This is one of the problems for the new confusing tags. Save which images are being wrongly tagged so we can judge it better.
The definition of andromorph is anything that is or looks like a man/male.

Yeah, I agree. They were shoehorned into a position they don't fit into which the furry and enby people in my personal circles (disclaimer: anecdotal evidence suggests but does not prove anything) all have never heard of before, versus intersex, which is a commonly known term.

That aside, I'd still like to know if there's something going on with the mistags or if it's just people not being smart about their tags.

transmale

and trans_male are aliased to andromorph. Similar for gynomorph too. mtf, and ftm may be the invalid tags you are referring to. I don't think they were ever implied to andromorph, but are related to the trans tags.

Intersex is already used as an umbrella tag (herm, maleherm, andromorph, gynomorph all imply intersex), so it's not available.

When taken in context (specifically, the context that we only apply one such tag per character, and that tagging is TWYS), the meanings of andromorph / gynomorph are implied: 'appears MOSTLY male', 'appears MOSTLY female'

(that said I'm not saying they were a good idea, I think they were at least as bad a choice as aliasing pegasus -> pterrippus. People cannot be relied on to process implications fully, especially if it's not their native language). Bad accessibility.)
