Topic: Question: How do I find the total # of results for a search?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Mainly trying to get a number of results so I can calculate exactly how homosexual this place is.

I don't know of a way to see the specific number, but the number of pages of results is a decent alternative that I've seen used on the forum.

Previously, the tag list on the side of a post would show the number of posts with that tag. Since the update, it now gives a more vague count when it goes over 1,000 (e.g. instead of showing a count of 45464, it'll now say 45k, or 3674 instead shows 3.6k). Either way, I think there might also be issues where deleted posts get counted sometimes, so the count might not be exact.

The easiest way to get an exact count of posts for an individual tag would be to go to the tags page and use the search. However, as Watsit said, this count includes all posts with that tag, which includes all the duplicate and deleted ones.

Getting a result count with a more complicated search (i.e. male/male -female), as well as filtering out the deleted posts, is not possible without writing a script that would query the API and count the returned results.
