Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: riding_on_back -> riding

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

There are definitely other ways to ride like belly_riding or riding_on_head. But it makes sense to me to tag those rather than tag the vast majority of cases with both riding and riding_on_back.

Mhm. Exactly my point. :P

Without having a tag for the default case, it becomes difficult to exclude every other case. To search for only riding on back images you would need to -riding_on_head, riding_on_belly riding_on_tentacle riding_on_who knows what.

That's my argument for having the tag.

Although "riding -riding_on" would work, so yea I guess there is a solution for this. I still don't like aliasing the default behaviour to the base tag and you would have to know how the tag format works to figure this out. If everything was in its own slot anyways, you wouldn't even need to start using asterisks to search.

But belly_riding is completely separate from actual riding, despite the name. And sitting on someone's head is on_head + carrying instead of riding, etc. So I don't see the relevance.

Those aren't tagged as riding either. Most of what you listed go under straddling (such as 'riding' on tentacle) instead of riding, which is for literal 'riding on back'.

Maybe this alias should be flipped, for clarity.

Nah. Lots of people tag the "riding" of cock with the riding tag, without bothering to check what the tag actually means. Reversing the alias would just result in a butt ton of pics of sex, being labeled as "riding_on_back."

Hm. Not sure if it'd result in any more work, since riding needs frequent cleaning regardless.
But as an alternate idea: how about sorting posts from riding to riding_on_back, and then aliasing riding to riding_(disambiguation)? Considering that it gets mistagged for stuff like sex and riding bikes, it's a good candidate for disambiguation.

But it's supposed to be used for riding bikes and the like, though. It may not explicitly say so in the wiki, but riding a bike-as well as things like certain carnival rides-has always been tagged riding. Though I do suppose a disambiguation could, indeed, be helpful.

It is not, and users have been warned in the past for mistagging it like that. 'Riding' inanimate things is tagged as straddling, plus various vehicle tags where applicable.

As for those 'always' being tagged as riding: there's currently some mistags under riding, but those were mass-added by the same user within the past month. Most of it should've gone into on_top_of etc instead.

The bulk update request #246 is active.

remove alias ride (14) -> riding (3199)

Reason: I think riding can be saved. It's a much simpler tag to use compared to anything else. I think we should disambiguate or at least umbrella the tag ride that is aliased to it. It could refer to amusement_ride, or inflatable_ride and by the sounds of it neither of these things should be tagged as riding or may even involve riding.

EDIT: The bulk update request #246 (forum #295704) has been approved by @Rainbow_Dash.
