Topic: holding_x vs hand_on_x

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Regarding tag_group:touching, I propose nominating hand_on_x to concern cases, where a character is touching by hand another character's x, and holding_x, when a character is touching by hand their own x. This seems to be the general tendency of these tags, but there is some mixing there that should be weeded out.

I'll be happy to work on this, but I'd like other opinions too, especially if someone should disagree.

There's also x_grab (e.g. butt grab vs. hand on butt).

x_grab

is specifically for one character holding another character's x, where holding_x is for a character holding their own x. It seems hand_on_x is for any character holding x, either their own or someone else's.

One particular problem is the case of hip. Holding hip would be holding your hand on your hip, and hand on hip would be holding your hand on someone else's hip, but this may be even counter intuitive.

There are 15 pagefuls of "butt_grab solo", where in most the character is grabbing their own butt.

Of course, that is 15 pagefuls out of the total 132 pagefuls of "butt_grab".

But I think there should be a tag neutrally pointing out, whose hand is on whose x. Indeed, "holding" is not completely neutral either.

remember that we have characters with non-human anatomies, so objects/body parts aren't always going to held/grabbed by a hand. the holding_* and grabbing_* tags still apply when being preformed by a tail, tentacle, or foot.

touching_x - when touching another character's x (or the ownership is not clear)
touching_own_x - when touching own x

+

x_grab - when the touch is grabby/holdy towards the character

holding_x - when x is an object (like holding_weapon). holding_character would still apply, as in that case the whole character is being held like an object.

hand_on_x - when the touching thingy is a hand
This would also go along with penis_on_x, and there are a couple of tentacle_on_x too.

This would require a lot of work.

Might be a good tagging project then. To make the tags clearer, perhaps they can be renamed/aliased as appropriate to hand_on_own_x and hand_on_other_x, and hand_on_x left as a catch-all for any hand on x, whether a character's own or another's. Or in place of hand_on_*, it could be grabbing_* or holding_*, whichever would be preferred.

Is there a neutral term to address a limb or such, which is used in a hand-like manner? In many cases here, an anthropomorph paw is acceptable for these hand_on_x cases, albeit it is not strictly speaking a hand, but a paw? Also, tentacle, manipulating hoof and pincer would do.

Even prehensile_hair.

x_prehension..?

I think I would prefer touching_own_x and touching_other_x, with wiki explaining this to mean intentive, active touching. If a need rises for more passive version, "in contact with"-derivatives could be used.

Touching keeps this more neutral for the active character's anatomy.

New tags

  • touching_other_x - when touching another character's x (or the ownership is not clear)
  • touching_own_x - when touching own x

Changed tags

  • holding_x - when x is an object (like holding_weapon). holding_character would still apply, as in that case the whole character is being held like an object. Other holding_x tags aliased to hand_on_x

(Mostly) unchanged tags

  • x_grab - when the touch is grabby/holdy towards the character
  • hand_on_x - when the touching thingy is a hand.

Other tags

This would also go along with penis_on_x, and there are a couple of tentacle_on_x too.
