Here are also some lingering questions I have in regards to some lamp/lantern tags:

  • How can lamp and lantern be distinguished from one another? Right now lantern is missing a wiki, and I'm unsure if lantern should be implicated to lamp or if they should be kept separate.
  • What should be done with bedside_lamp/desk_lamp/table_lamp? There doesn't seem to be a difference between these tags (besides the location where the lamp is placed), though I'm not quite certain which of these tags (if any) should be the one kept.
  • Should oil_lamp and oil_lantern be kept separate, or should one be aliased to the other? They don't seem too different from each other. If there is a difference between those tags, the tags will definitely need some cleaning-up and wikis to help distinguish the differences between the two tags.

A lantern is "a light inside a container that has a handle for holding it or hanging it up, or the container itself", while a lamp is "an object that makes light". I believe that a "lantern" might be a specific kind of "lamp" that is often (but not always) portable.

  • oil_lantern should be aliased to oil_lamp, since the same object is traditionally known by that name.
