Topic: Text VS TWYS - another angle (copyright tags)

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Generally, things like character names and copyright tags are tag what you know rather than tag what you see. If it's derivative of Zootopia, then it should get the Zootopia tag

If it looks like it could be a character or copyright, then you can go by what you know. If all you had to go on was a tail sticking out, then I'd say no, but this has full characters.

They're not characters from Zootopia though, they're characters drawn in a style reminiscent of it. Other than the text "Zootopia University", there's nothing tying it to the Zootopia universe.

If they look like they're drawn in the style of something, and text in the image itself says that's where they are... I think it's safe to say it's probably appropriate to tag it as such.

That seems like a dangerous way to take IPs and/or their worlds without giving credit

Character names yes - it's in the Wiki.
Copyright?! Nope, can't find the corresponding TWYK rule. Where is it?
I wouldn't call it a derivative of Zootopia. At most it's inspired by the Zootopia world. Similar to pack_street - it's heavily inspired by Zootopia but there is no original Zootopia content in it anywhere (let me know in this forum thread if you see it differently).

I strongly disagree there. My thinking is that copyright tags should only be applyed if someone who has only seen all the official stuff (almost) instantly recognizes something official in that image.
And that's definitely not the case here (ignoring the word "Zootopia University").

So far nothing in that comic takes any Zootopia IP.
Imho not even the way the foxes are drawn is similar to how nick_wilde looks in any official content.

Zootopia Fancharacters are still Zootopia fancharacters.

It is quite literally set in the Zootopia universe.

I've never even watched the movie and I recognised the style. This, combined with the comic itself quite literally stating itself to be in Zootopia, should be sufficient under any reasonable measure to tag it as such. If people are looking for Zootopia content, I believe this would fall under what is desired to be found, otherwise you simply have strange comics labelled as being fanart of a franchise, that are drawn in the style of the franchise, being completely unlabelled as such. I, personally, greatly dislike the style and designs of that movie and would quite enjoy filtering out any and all content, canonical or fan-based, of it.

Edit: Wait a minute, are you also the guy going around detagging all of hakya11's animations, resulting in them being labelled as "fan_character" without any copyright tags?
