Topic: Posting all of the Twokinds comic series.

Don't. That's a whole lot of pages, which would require too much work and space. If it can be found on a different site, specifically Tom's website, then it can be viewed there. Posting an entire comic series isn't exactly a good idea for an image database ment for single images or moderatley-sized comics.

I think it best only posting snippets, self-contained bits and pieces that don't require extensive knowledge of the main comic series itself to understand. Think of them as teasers rather than a mirroring of the whole archive. It would then encourage viewers to follow the source link and drive up traffic to the comic's site itself, thereby directly encouraging the cartoonist to continue his work.

This.

Remember, without artists, we would have no art. Even the simple gesture of having adblocker disabled as you read a webcomic can make a different to an artist. :)

What benefit do you see from doing this?

The way I see it, it replaces a decent navigation system with a less usable one (prev/next links at the top instead of the bottom, and no first/last links), and is likely to piss off the artist. It would also impair the ability of people to search for twokinds fanart, since they'd have to dig through every single comic as well. In exchange for this...you get tagged twokinds comics. I can't say I can really think of how e621's tagging system would be very helpful for finding a particular one. The drawbacks outweigh the benefits.

Directing more traffic to his site wouldn't do much good IMO. He will still only release a new comic every wed. morning.

okay. And why should he continue at all if he sees his views per day dropping? Why should he ever CHANGE that if if seems people are losing interest? Why should he if people don't give him any feed back? No, they can't just leave a comment here, he may never see them. Not to mention advertisement revenue, local advertising of things that matter to fans of the comic (like that kickstarter campaign, release of printed comics, etc, etc, etc)

It was because I accidentally selected a forum topic for the request. I hid the resulting forum post.

Just as well, posting an entire webcomic is prohibited. uploading guidelines

"As a webcomic counts any comic that is exclusively hosted on their own page, exclusively hosted on a webcomic host, or monetized through ads."
Twokinds itself would count as "exclusively hosted on a webcomic host, or monetized through ads", but there are other webcomics that don't fall under this definition.

Apologizes in advance for the necro, but I couldn’t find anything on the site that mentions this (and the general topic would’ve been the same anyways):

Normally that would be true, but the artist says this on the licensing page in response to people bugging him about people reposting his work.

Share my work - You can save my work, print it out, and show it to other people. You may post it on forums, imageboards, and chatrooms. You could even zip up the entirety of my comic and distribute it as a torrent if you so felt inclined

Would this be enough for it to fall under the special permissions mentioned on the DNP page?

From the Uploading Guidelines:

  • Webcomics are allowed as long as not the entire comic is mirrored here, meaning only up to a maximum of five (5) pages total.
    • A webcomic counts as any comic that is exclusively hosted on their own page, exclusively hosted on a webcomic host, or monetized through ads.

Also from the Avoid Posting page:

  • Excessive webcomic rips (more than 5 or more consecutive webcomic pages)

Site rules trump artists' wishes every time, otherwise you'd be able to upload human-only pictures from any artist with similar licensing terms.

We do sometimes allow webcomics to be posted here. The purpose of that rule was to help artists, not because we didn't want their content. That's why the rules mention that if the comic is exclusive to a website, or is monetized, that we don't want it here. If the artist is okay with it though, we can give them permission.

Oh no... :(

...Oh, OK. Had me worried for a moment. Was pretty sure I was allowed to post Divine Acid as the artist was wanting someone to help with it. Need to do another batch of pages tonight.

Yeah, it feels obvious that if an artist is either paywalling or 'soft' paywalling (i.e. site run from ads), that you'd better ask first. There's also that rule regarding delayed posts of some content.

I'm an inclusionist. Storage is cheap and history has proven redundancy is very beneficial.

You're welcome to keep it on your own HDD until the comicalypse happens? ;) There was actually a big controversy yeaaaaaars ago because of taking down certain comics here even without takedown requests. Which was unannounced ahead of time precisely to prevent rush to archival. XD

Assuming you're saying "ask the Twokinds artist first," that's the thing; the licensing page was made because of people asking him about the issue (and the page remains unchanged for over a decade now):

I get quite a few people from time to time who come up to me to report that one of my images has been 'stolen' by someone else. Usually it's a edited page from the comic, or a recolored image from my gallery here. I just want to set the record straight, so hopefully I can avoid more of these 'reports' in the future.

My public work is hereby covered under a Creative Commons license, unless otherwise stated.

Considering that it's very likely that he'll say yes to uploading the comic here with this in mind, assuming he responds at all, I was just wondering if the stuff mentioned on the licensing page is enough or if there needs to be a little more than that.

Looks dead.

Well, there's a subreddit of the same name. I just didn't want to post it because Reddit seems to be going the way of Digg.

The bulk update request #7555 is pending approval.

Reason: * Cleans up the clothing_sniffing tag

  • Cleans up the underwear_sniffing tag
    • I feel like bra_sniffing being the same tag is a bit of a misnomer, but since bra itself is aliased to underwear I'm just going to go with that.

Whoops, I did *not* mean to put this as a reply to an existing thread. I filled out the "Forum topic" field for the BUR form wrong. (I'm new to this, if you can't tell.) My mistake.

I was wondering why this topic was bumped.
In the future, please do not fill out the "topic ID" field if you do not want multiple BURs to appear in the same thread. Resist the primal urge to fill every hole.
