Are patreon ads allowed on this site?
Ive been noticing a few over the last few days, and they just seem like ads, not content.
Example: https://e621.net/posts/2917039
Cant they just buy ad space instead?

Straight up ads are on the "Do not post" list, it's up to the staff how far you can go before it's "just an ad." In the mean time, you can add on the patreon and advertisement tags.
Though you can't really blacklist that without hiding legitimate porn like this. At least images like post #2576230 can be blacklisted by adding in "Censored", but that doesn't help the images that are one freebie advertising a whole pack.

Aside from what Furrin said, you assume the artists themselves are the ones uploading images here. That is often not the case. Some aren't even aware their art is on e621.

I serious doubt anyone else uploaded patreon ads, with links asking for money if they where not the artist. It isnt just art but blatant ads.

I keep getting faves on old Patreon ads even the art they lead to has been made public for months.
You're making very bold assumptions about people's ability to process what they're looking at.

The post in the example hasn't been reviewed by staff yet. Don't draw conclusions about what's allowed until the post receives an approval. Sometimes it can take several days before staff have a look at it and decide to keep or delete the post. More info here: https://e621.net/wiki_pages/30817
And with this search you can see that ads are still being deleted and it doesn't happen immediately: delreason:*advertisement

I'm not, I am asking a question.

The problem is inconsistencies. post #2902684 has a big ol' censor bar over it, but is still quite a lot of good animation, yet it got deleted. post #2576230 has about as much of a censor and is not animated, but got approved. The latter image is eight months old, has the ruling on advertisements changed in that time, or perhaps Mairo got stricter himself?
Bigger issue I'm having is that there has been now more than handful of users who are coloring bases and selling adoptables, but they specifically omit prices on e621 upload and then just hope that people follow them to FA where you can then see the content being sold.
So there is definitely noticeable trend where people are figuring out the limits here and trying to push them further and further - where with most freely released material with patreon advertisement embedded in it, that's basically artist posting the same thing everywhere, not just focus pointing e621 guidelines.

Not part of a pool. Only handled by me. Reasoning explained in the comments.
Part of a pool. Originally approved by Shadowstones. Simply enforcing their approval and reporting flag abusers, so you would have to contest that with them or with NotMeNotYou.

Yiffstar does not exsist anymore, so these posts technically have zero advertisement value, but still artistical value.
So unless the full artwork from where these advertisements are from are found and posted, these have significant value for us from my perspective at least.
Advertising is still a form of art, this I learned even back in media reading classes back in elementary. It's a talent to make something that engages the viewers to the point where they want to buy your product and best way to do this is to make the content something that they want to see. This is also once again, why the guidelines aren't "NO ADS" but rather that the value of the art needs to be higher than the value to sell goods.
What I was talking about was stuff like people doing stuff like YCH advertisements, then proceeding to post the ads everywhere, but then knowing that we do not accept that omitting the prices, character placements, URLs, etc. etc. from e621 upload specifically and link the auction in source and description to forward more customers for them.
At this point on technical level these posts become acceptable, even though they should not have been if they simply posted the same version they post literally everywhere else, so it can be seen as malicious attempt to bypass sites guidelines. This ain't too dissimilar from artists doing human only content and then drawing a small bird in the corner of the artwork just to make it technically acceptable (which has happened, we have had post with furry and speech bubble "don't mind me, I'm just here to make this acceptable").

It was a joke.

Yeah i found someone trying to sell tshirt designs on this site using the art, the buy shirt link was in the desc.

dakimakura_design
As long as it's full artwork shared.
I think furrydakimakura stuff was completely nuked, because they had the artwork as photograph, then tiny versions sometimes censored, overlayed with tons of distracting watermarks and huge advertisement text everywhere, where most other dakimakura uploads are simply low res uploads with slight watermarks to prevent third party printing mostly.

Sooo like this? https://e621.net/posts/2935368 I mean, source is a donation link, the desc is donated based, implying donations will add more to the image....isnt that just advertising?
