Hi,
I've noticed general tags oc:savelin and oc:shadowgale on post #3032041
After quick search oc:*, there seems to be over 50 occurrences of this format.
AFAIK such info should go to character tags, am I right?
Like character:savelin etc...

Are general tags oc:* even allowed?
Nope, if it's a character it should be moved to the character category. This was probably done by someone that doesn't know how to correctly create character tags and move it to the right category.

Yep.
Edit: I meant to edit my first comment, but made a new comment instead. Already happened 2 times, I think I getting a little disoriented with this new comment field. ;-;
Hmm,
do you think, that oc:* tag was intended to mark character or its' author?
eg. post #3028979 already has character tag, that does not match tagged oc:*
This is gonna be tedious work.
I am generally confused about character tagging. Mainly about info in parentheses.
- helga_(iskra) - ok, this is to differentiate between characters due to quite common name
- nolegs_(oc) - ?
- big_ears_(character) - ?

I believe "oc" is used for characters and I've never seen someone using it to refer to their artist name.

Hm, I think the uploader meant to tag big_ears instead of big_ears_(character). You can check the source to see if the character name is right or not or ask the uploader that in this case seems to be artist the artist themselves.

The suffixes are used to make a character with a common name more unique, normally they're either a copyright suffix or a character owner suffix, if an artist have a character with the same name as them and it is an unique enough name it will simply receive a _(character) suffix instead.
You can check Topic: PSA: How to add new artist/character/species tags if you want to know more.

Yep, that's right. Helga is a common name so the character owner suffix was added.
- nolegs_(oc) - ?
- big_ears_(character) - ?
No idea either. These were probably made before the convention of suffixes on characters or by someone that isn't that knowledgeable about e6's tagging system which is reasonable as the info can get really sparsed, tagging here it's also much less intuitive than it seems at a glance.
These tags should be replaced with a owner suffix instead. First that it doesn't make sense to put an _(oc) suffix if we already know the owner. Second we shouldn't be putting _(character) on a characteristic as "big ears", it should be the character owner/copyright instead. In the case of nolegs_(oc) it should probably be aliased or updated to nolegs_(replica).

. _(oc) is likely someone meaning _(character) but wants you to know its their OC DO NOT STEAL. The term OC itself is in a confusing state, because it literally stands for Original Character, and some people mean it to refer to an original creation, like a character from the creator's own story or a fursona or something, while other people mean it as a fan creation, a character created independently in the style of someone else's work so it can be put into fan stories taking place in that other person's world or with those characters (often with obnoxious coloring and unnecessary detail to make them stand out). So "OC" should be avoided since it essentially just means "a character".
_(character) is generally for an otherwise unique name that could clash with another tag. Something like accelo_(character) for example, even though Accelo is a fairly unique name, it's actually the character/fursona of the artist accelo. So despite it being a unique enough name, you still need to distinguish the character tag from the artist tag. accelo_(accelo) would be an alternative way to do it, but that looks weird (makes me think of Mario Mario ).
_(character) otherwise shouldn't be used for generic character names. Something like jack_(character) isn't helpful because there's no way to know who's "Jack" that refers to, so it should be suffixed with the owner name instead. Also if a character name is already unique without clashes, the _(character) suffix is unnecessary and really shouldn't be there (e.g. linna_auriandi_(character) really shouldn't have the _(character) suffix since linna_auriandi doesn't clash with another tag).
