Topic: Plurality in general

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I've seen some topics in search results with examples for search word "plural" but not a general topic for it. I saw 'scrolls' and 'scroll' tags, and to be consistent, shouldn't these both be 'scroll' via aliasing? It is for 'books' tag, among others.
Example post: https://e621.net/posts/2609304

I saw also, hand/s_on_arm_s and it seems there should generally be 3 likely valid combinations(1 hand on 1 arm, 1 hand on each arm, 2 hands on one arm), and a few outliers like hands big enough to hold both arms, etc. Might be good to mention the possibilities on the Wiki for those tags? "Not to be confused with, see also"?

Isn't the standard on this site to make plural objects/subjects their singular forms? i.e. Book/s, scroll/s, car/s, canine/s, penis/penises, pant/pants(joke on this last one)

It's more or less standard to alias plural objects to singular forms, unless a singular form does not make sense.
For example, the request to alias scrolls to scroll was made two years ago, in alias #41057. I just haven't reached that far down the queue yet.

Wow, that's a lot of pages down. XD
Thanks for info.

There's only 61 results for https://e621.net/posts?tags=scrolls+-scroll so it's not a huge number. Found another tag that has issues like this: https://e621.net/posts?tags=looking_at_genitals versus looking at genitalia. No... wait, it seems database was just out of date/needing refresh. There's 0 results for that tag without the other. Cool! Good idea to not rely 100% on those numbers, obviously.
