I'm not sure about this since it seems like this can be used for normal abdomens, too. One of the examples given is post #1996030, which definitely isn't belly material.

It specifies a relatively small rounded belly that is the result of fat, and somewhat of a counterpart to belly rolls, musclegut, or abs.
Belly seems to be an umbrella tag for any kind of belly, of any cause, shape or size (due to implications). I don't see a real benefit in aliasing potbelly to the generic belly and removing a fairly well used (1.4k submissions) and properly defined tag.

Belly is specifically for above "normal" size. Sizes are generally specified in terms of "normal" -> big -> huge -> hyper. Though belly is a bit of an outlier since it huge_belly isn't a tag, it goes from "normal" -> belly -> big belly -> hyper belly. Both belly and potbelly seem to be for above normal bellies.

I'm just saying what the implications and usage of the tag have made the search results for the belly tag - big_belly and hyper_belly imply belly, but even if you search belly -big_belly -hyper belly you can see that "belly" is used for anything from a small bit of chub, to a obese characters with proportionally "small" bellies that are a cascade of rolls, to a feral toony characters that have bellies taking up their entire lower half.

All of the above are tagged only as "belly" and tagging some of them as "big belly" wouldn't exactly be accurate or would only further dilute the intended distinction in size between "big belly" and "normal" belly. "Potbelly" on the other hand, is pretty clear on what it's meant to be applied to, and relatively uniform in the kind of belly shape and size that get tagged under it. I just don't see any utility in merging a tag specifying something distinct from a more general tag when it's been defined, is clearly seeing use, and is understood by users.

To me it'd be like aliasing "sagging breasts" to "big breasts" - most breasts that sag are going to at least fall under "big", but there's a specific look and shape to sagging breasts vs big breasts in general.
