Topic: How do I upload Animations Correctly?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I never uploaded animations before and I found a nice thing off youtube.
I converted it to a WEBM but when I start editing, I'm not seeing the animation.
What am I doing wrong? I don't want to end up uploading an animation that doesn't work properly.

Youtube provides videos as webm already, there's no need to convert and edit it. Presuming whatever tool you're using to get videos from youtube is sufficiently developed, it should allow selecting the format.

then why does my upload screen preview look like this?

I took YT put it into a YT Vid to WEBM converter and this happened.
Where it appears to only be sound. No image.

I also tired just linking the YT

If you have used an online downloader and converter to make this video, it is highly likely that you will encounter errors or an overall decrease in quality (making it in a way inferior).

I would highly recommend you to use youtube-dl (for downloading) & the ffmpeg plugin (for converting) to download off YouTube with the highest quality possible.

Remember e621 only allows VP8, VP9, Opus and Vorbis codecs. https://e621.net/help/supported_filetypes
