Topic: [APPROVED] Disambiguate Dragonborn

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #2058 is active.

mass update dragonborn -> dragonborn_(dnd)
create implication dragonborn_(dnd) (1988) -> dungeons_and_dragons (7718)
change category dragonborn_(disambiguation) (21) -> invalid

Reason: This has been a longstanding issue involving two franchises using the same name. Dragonborn is both the name of a race in DnD, and also commonly used to refer to Dovahkiin, or "The Last Dragonborn" from Skyrim. "Dovahkiin," in fact, is just the word "dragonborn" in TES's fictional dragon language, as the player character doesn't have a canonical name since they may be either sex and any race. Due to the similarity, however, people continue to use the DnD race tag for the Skyrim protagonist, so this needs to be sorted out.

The bulk update request #2806 is active.

create alias dragonborn (0) -> dragonborn_(disambiguation) (21)

Reason: Probably shouldn't be applying both an alias and a mass update to the same tag in the same BUR.
The order of execution in a BUR is not guaranteed, so it might apply the alias first, then try to process the mass update.
That may lead to rather unpredictable results.

That was more of a problem for the dracorex BUR than this one, though.

Ugh. Yeah, I assumed they went order. I’ll keep that in mind in the future.

EDIT: oh, uh… dragonborn_(dnd) should be a species tag, but I can’t edit it because its count is too high. Oops.
