I feel like tags that contain words whose definitions have changed should change to have the correct word. Such as the tags under the gender umbrella should be changed to be under an umbrella defined as sex seeing as thats what they're explicitly tagging, and gender isn't relevant when discussing sex. I feel like most people on this website can understand the difference between sex and gender seeing as we have tags specifically for trans folks which are dependent on the fact that gender and sex are 2 different things.
That's just my two cents and I doubt a change like this that's seen as small and insignificant to most users will ever be implemented. But I'm stubborn and made this post mostly out of spite at first. Have a nice day no matter your opinion on this topic.

While it may be more accurate to call them "biological sex" tags, the term "sex" currently exists for an entirely different reason.

If we start to refer to "gender tags" as being "sex tags" to be more accurate, it will cause confusion when people start to refer to tags as <sex>_on_<sex> rather than <gender>_on_<gender>. Even referring to the help page would be called howto:tag sex.

Whether you're referring to gender or sex, female_on_female is still female_on_female. The words don't magically change between gender and sex. The two big tags that do mention gender itself are Crossgender and ambiguous gender.

There's also the Gender transformation series of tags, which may involve just the physical sex change, or may involve an additional identity (gendered) component.
