I do wonder if there's a limit to how specific the tags should be... This is getting into the territory of assigning a color to every object in a post.

Probably limitless, if you want to go with the monotone _*, two_tone_* & multicolored_* route for these as well.
The only problem is how much of it is ever going to be utilised/tagged.

I'm more wondering whether we should, rather than whether we can. Is it worthwhile for taggers to jot down every color of every object?

For me, I think I it helps a little for notable objects or clothing pieces. I think color tags help narrow down the searches more when you're trying to just find something very specific or remember an image. I don't think every tagger or uploader should worry about tagging what color everything is, but having the option of adding those color tags helps for those that feel it's an important addition.

It will contribute to already existing & extreme tag bloat; e.g., literally spending hours tagging the monotone/two_tone/multicolored colours of the hair/fur/feather/tuft/skin/scale/spike/horn/frill/eye/pupil/sclera/nose/face/mouth/tongue/ear/chest/breast/areola/nipple/belly/arm/hand/finger/claw/pawpad/leg/foot/toe/tail/wing/genital/penis/knot/glans/pussy/clit/butt/anus/etc.
But, it's a nice thing to have when people crop the sh*t out of artworks and you are trying to find the original post with the very limited clues you have.
