Reason: Both white-footed mice (Peromyscus leucopus ) and grasshopper mice (Onychomys arenicola, Onychomys leucogaster, and Onychomys torridus ) are all New World mice and thus fall under the Cricetids. Thus, they don't qualify as murids.

Fun facts: After the house mouse, the white-footed mouse is commonly used as a laboratory mouse and is also kept as a pet. As for the grasshopper mice, they are sometimes called "werewolf mice" as they act like miniature wolves and hunt like miniature cats, and even howl to mark their territory.
