Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: strapless_strapon -> feeldoe

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #57589 strapless_strapon -> feeldoe has been approved.

Reason: I already submitted this as a Tag Implication Request, but, judging by some comments, I appear to have misunderstood which is which (Implication or Alias), so I'm submitting it here as well.

When someone does not know the brand name feeldoe, they will begin to "call it the name of a functional equivalent", even if the term is an oxymoron.

Case In Point, a video sponsored by Adam and Eve is titled Strapless Strapons, meaning it's a more common term than people may realize.

waydence perfectly captured my point in a reply to the above post by saying:
Neither strapless dildo nor strapless strapon make much sense, but that's not important here. What actually matters is that people call them that, so they should be aliased.

I actually thought there wasn't any pictures with strapless dildos on this site 'cause I didn't know it's called feeldoe around here.

Note the part about not thinking there were any on this site because the tag "strapless_dildo" didn't exist.

The terms/tags I propose to be aliased to feeldoe are as follows:
"strapless_strapon"
"strapless_dildo"
"strapon_(strapless)"

The bulk update request #2510 is active.

create alias strapless_dildo (0) -> feeldoe (220)
create alias strapon_(strapless) (0) -> feeldoe (220)

Reason: Strapless dildo is a generic name for Feeldoe-style strapons.

If there are several tags to alias or implicate, you can create a single Bulk Update Request (BUR), like this.

furrin gok disliked that

furrin gok, nobody in the real world is calling a feeldoe or strapless strapon a "slip in". as self explanatory as it is to installation, it's vague as fuck and could apply to almost any other sex toy

Not a fan of this idea. It's just genericization, calling all strapless strapons by a single brand name. I'd rather we go right to the point and call it what it is (regardless of it being an oxymoron) and avoid vaguely tagging it as a brand. I've personally known them primarily as strapless strapons, but I can appreciate that some people are more familiar with Feeldoe than the former, so it's fair if people disagree with me.

Thank you. I had no clue. There's still a lot I have to learn.

I know. I tried doing an implication request (mainly because I got myself confused between the two), and it seemed like people wanted to keep the current language, feeldoe, en lieu of strapless_strapon.
At least, with an alias, it will make them easier for people who don't know they're called feeldoes here will be able to find it.

To venture a guess. I think that they meant "slipin_strapon" rather than "slipin" standalone or "slipin_dildo".
I think slipin_strapon does make a bit of sense, but I feel more people will refer to them as "strapless_strapons" or "feeldoes" than a "slipin_strapon".

To me, anything with the term "strapon" for it makes no sense, because it's not a strapon, and I've never heard it called one. It's a double-ended dildo. The wiki even says as much: "A specific brand of double_dildo", just with a particular L-bend shape to set it apart from other types of double-ended dildos.

Doesn't have to be that, but feeldoe carries zero explanation to what it is, while also being a brand. Should not be the tag.
Even L_shaped_double_dildo is more explanatory than feeldoe is.

I agree with you, anything with the term "strapon" in it is an oxymoron, but people use that term, as I cite above, in many places. There are even entire websites based on the oxymoronic "strapless dildo", dedicated to selling them, as well as entire sections of adult sites for content where they are used.

I think that's why the term "strapless strapon" gets used, despite being oxymoronic in nature.
It perfectly describes that it's functionally a strapon, and achieves said function without the use of straps.

If you wanna invent some new term that can be used: wearable_dildo could work. Then you have strapped_wearable_dildo and strapless_wearable_dildo. Doesn't really seem right to abandon such a functional tag as strap-on but it does form a format that works both ways without including oxymorons.
