It would match the fact that grenade_launcher currently implies ranged_weapon rather than gun, but I'm not really sure why, considering the wiki description for it seems like it covers any object people would commonly call a gun.

seems like the was from implication was all the way back in 2016. in forum topic #16230, along with the creation of a tag group there were some implications suggested, the implications weren't really discussed at all before being approved. grenade_launcher should probably imply gun rather than ranged_weapon directly, because a grenade launcher is a gun, it's more or less just a 1.2 gauge shotgun.
